One can pay more (a lot more, i.e. $100's of dollars) for lodging in Cusco, but this clean hotel and its friendly and helpful staff was our pick for our stay Cusco. One great value in my opinion. No regrets. During our Peru trip, we were at the this hotel three separate times for multiple days each time. By the second return, we were part of the family. The front desk staff always most helpful and accommodating.

Location puts you near the Market - which is a "must see" multiple times during one's visit. The short walk to Plaza de Armas, takes you through areas of Cusco that should be seen and experienced by all.

Rooms vary in size and shape - hence the charm. Might have some ear plugs if the room is along the street, but for the cost its was no big deal for us. Request a room that is not facing the street and then this will not be an issue for you. We had other rooms that did not have the noise factor, but all rooms were fine with us. Note that we have traveled many places and have a tolerance for the unexpected.

Breakfast buffet was great. We had a couple of dinners there too and they were good as well.

It's just a nice friendly place to stay and one that fits a budget.

Room Tip: Don't forget a visit (or two) to the Main Market just down the street. All the color and charm...

Overall, good. The service is TOP, they checked us in sitting in a sofa,, with mate the coca. The staff is so friendly!
Location is OK, not that close to the Plaza de Independencia, but really close to the Artisan´s Market. That is worth it. Taxis to the Plaza are about $2 to $3 US dollars, so its not that bad. It is in a tiny street, kind of secluded, and if you blink you miss it, but taxis seem to know where it is (or just say "la Union, or Rotary, and its right there). There are restaurants close by, and the hotel restaurant is good enough (even though it is expensive. The "Dieta de pollo", a chicken soup, is great, but at $8 is sooo overprized).
The hotel is beautiful, and it makes you "feel" Cusco. Lots of mirrors, of stone work.
Downside? You can hear everyone talking, getting into their rooms! If you are a light sleeper, this hotel is not for you, since everytime someone speaks you can hear it! And if someone noisy gets it at 2 pm... well... you wont sleep.

Room Tip: try to get a room away from any noise, even though Im not sure where that would be...

Stayed here for two nights before doing the Inka trek and one night after returning.
First 2 nights were in a small room the last night was in a huge room, I guess it's a little pot luck what room you get. What I can say is that the hotel and it's staff are great upon are arrival back from Macchu Picchu they moved all are luggage into are room before we arrived.

There is wifi and free coca tea which is great. The rooms are based round a courtyard which gives it a nice touch and breakfeast is from 5am. Hotel is a good location being 5 minutes away from the main square.
I would recomend the hotel with out a question.

We stayed a couple of times in this hotel during our trip to Machu Picchu.

The hotel location is great, close to everything you need to be while visiting Cuzco. They picked us up at the airport for free, just emailed them with your flight details. They were also super helpful when organizing a taxi for us to take us through the sacred valley (they do it through an agency).

What I really liked as well is the fact the hotel has character, with a nice colonial style.

A couple of tips:
- the restaurant is average and the timing to get something is really long. Maybe they were out of personnel, don't know...but there are plenty of restaurants to choose from near the hotel.
- there is a local market going down the street where the hotel is located. Worth visiting and don't forget to try their freshly prepared juices!
- if you need to go to Aguas Calientes, leave your luggage there and they will keep it safe.

Enjoy!!

We stayed here before our trip to the jungle/Puerto Maldonado and upon our return. Our first room was small and had lots of noise from the courtyard. Upon returning we were able to upgrade to a suite. If you can afford the superior room, it is definately worth it for the extra space. The breakfast buffet was excellent as were our other meals in the hotel. The staff was always helpful. The location is about 7 blocks from the Plaza de Armas. There is an Orion market at the end of the block convenient for last minute purchases as well as the Mercado San Pedro. Overall a positive experience.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms 101 through 105 which are off the courtyard used for meals. These rooms are small and n...

It's a very nice, helpful hotel. They provide free airport pick up and when we arrived 4 hours early, we called and they got there in 20 minutes. They will also store luggage for you while you tour Macchu Pichu or the Amazon. Breakfast was very good, including custom made omellets. There is hot water and cocoa tea available 24 hours, and the tea is very helpful. We also took high altitude medicine. We are in our 60's and managed. But we were also always aware of the altitude. The hotel is not far from the Central Square and very close to the Central Market, which is very authentic and more reasonable than San Blas. There is also a local supermarket [?] just down the street which was great for buying large water bottles at the price for locals.Ask for a quiet room, with no windows facing the open, internal courtyard where people eat and visit. We did have problems adjusting the water temperature in the shower. They also arranged a taxi to take us to Sacsayhuaaman in the morning before the tours and it was very reasonable. Then, the taxi driver helped us find an English speaking guide who was one of the best we had in Peru.

Room Tip: no rooms with windows facing the eating area

We had booked a 3 night stay here, a night at Maccu pichu and the a further 3 night back at the Terra Andina.
One of us suffered badly from Altitude sickness. having a room with no external windows, only facing the air tight courtyard..this made breathing worse. having returned for our 4th night stay...a decision was made to abort the last 2 nights , change airline tickets and return to lima for last 2 nights to eliviate the sickness...the mature lady at reception was extremely unhelpfull in helping us amend air fares...booking a lima hotel at short notice...unsympathetic with our dilema...no refund was offered for our prepaid 2 night lost...
If you run a hotel at high altitude , then you have to accept a small percentage of your guests will have to abort their stay due to sickness....to simply shrug your shoulders , keep the money and say " tough" is at least wrong and at most criminal...
