We stayed here before our trip to the jungle/Puerto Maldonado and upon our return. Our first room was small and had lots of noise from the courtyard. Upon returning we were able to upgrade to a suite. If you can afford the superior room, it is definately worth it for the extra space. The breakfast buffet was excellent as were our other meals in the hotel. The staff was always helpful. The location is about 7 blocks from the Plaza de Armas. There is an Orion market at the end of the block convenient for last minute purchases as well as the Mercado San Pedro. Overall a positive experience.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms 101 through 105 which are off the courtyard used for meals. These rooms are small and n...

It's a very nice, helpful hotel. They provide free airport pick up and when we arrived 4 hours early, we called and they got there in 20 minutes. They will also store luggage for you while you tour Macchu Pichu or the Amazon. Breakfast was very good, including custom made omellets. There is hot water and cocoa tea available 24 hours, and the tea is very helpful. We also took high altitude medicine. We are in our 60's and managed. But we were also always aware of the altitude. The hotel is not far from the Central Square and very close to the Central Market, which is very authentic and more reasonable than San Blas. There is also a local supermarket [?] just down the street which was great for buying large water bottles at the price for locals.Ask for a quiet room, with no windows facing the open, internal courtyard where people eat and visit. We did have problems adjusting the water temperature in the shower. They also arranged a taxi to take us to Sacsayhuaaman in the morning before the tours and it was very reasonable. Then, the taxi driver helped us find an English speaking guide who was one of the best we had in Peru.

Room Tip: no rooms with windows facing the eating area

We had booked a 3 night stay here, a night at Maccu pichu and the a further 3 night back at the Terra Andina.
One of us suffered badly from Altitude sickness. having a room with no external windows, only facing the air tight courtyard..this made breathing worse. having returned for our 4th night stay...a decision was made to abort the last 2 nights , change airline tickets and return to lima for last 2 nights to eliviate the sickness...the mature lady at reception was extremely unhelpfull in helping us amend air fares...booking a lima hotel at short notice...unsympathetic with our dilema...no refund was offered for our prepaid 2 night lost...
If you run a hotel at high altitude , then you have to accept a small percentage of your guests will have to abort their stay due to sickness....to simply shrug your shoulders , keep the money and say " tough" is at least wrong and at most criminal...

The Terra Andina Hotel is located in a walking distance from the central square, but not on the big street, so it is not noisy. There is a supermarket next to the hotel, where you can buy anything you want. The hotel has free airport pickup, tasty free fresh breakfast, hot water available all the time, oxygen tanks, and very friendly staff. We do not speak Spanish, but it was not a problem at all. We got all our tours and taxi arranged w/o a problem. WIFI was good in our room, but not in our friend's room. The rooms are small, but clean and with comfortable beds. I highly recommend this hotel.

As others said, it's a nice hotel, about 10 minutes away from the main square. There is a supermarket half a block away. The rooms were rather small, but my bathroom was spacious. There was no Wi-Fi connection in my room (301), so I had to connect to Internet in the hall (btw, internet connection in the lobby was super slow). My friends stayed in another room (303) and had a decent connection. So it seems to be hit and miss.
The bed was very comfortable, and I loved the blanket - so light and warm.
The hotel offers free transfer from the airport or a bus station to the hotel. My friends did not warn the hotel about their arrival, so everyone could not fit in the car that was meeting us, but the person from the hotel (Ivan) helped to get a taxi for them. Ivan took care of us through the whole stay. He booked tours for us and explained where to get various tickets.
The breakfast is served starting from 5:30AM, since many tours start early. Though the "omlet guy" comes a little later, as does the fresh bread.
In the lobby there is always hot coca tea, which was nice since I love to drink hot tea throughout the day. Like other hotels they have oxygen tank, though I did not feel any difference breathing though it.
The staff was friendly. The only drawback was that they charged my card in soles instead of dollars using not very friendly exchange rate, so I ended up paying about 5% more than anticipated.
Overall it was a nice stay, and I would stay there again.

The hotel is about a 10-minute walk from the central square, at a slight uphill. It's just a few feet from the big San Pedro market, and a modern supermarket. It's a very nice hotel, has good free WIFI, good free breakfast, and free airport pickup. We were two guys and they put us in 3-bed room that was large and comfortable. There were a few problems: a) hot water was always available, but have to let the water run for a couple of minutes before the hot water arrives, which is very wasteful. b) our room had a section of opaque glass wall that did not have a curtain, so bright sunlight came in starting before 5 AM... There was also a small internal window whose curtain did not completely block light from the corridor. c) soundproofing is lacking; the place gets a bit noisy in the very early morning when the staff set up breakfast and people shower and prepare for their trips. This noise, along with the early sunrise light coming in, means you wake up around 5 AM whether or not you need to, but may be able to sleep more after people take off. None of these issues bothered us too much so we did enjoy our stay and would certainly consider staying here again for the right price.

Although it isn't perfect, I'm giving this hotel the full 5-star rating because it most certainly surpasses the other "hotel" (Torre Dorada) that's rated #1 on this site for Cusco - I stayed at that one before and something is totally crazy about that one being #1, so here's hoping to help fix that.

My husband and I stayed at Terra Andina Hotel in Cusco last month for part of our Honeymoon to Peru. It also happened to be my birthday. It was a wonderful experience. The room was clean and just a little on the small side. The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful, especially when we ran into difficulty with needing to convert our US dollars last minute. They went above and beyond to help us. They even surprised us with a birthday cake for me on my birthday - it was wonderful and delicious! The location was excellent, about a 5-10 minute walk to the main square. We are very pleased with our stay here. We have great memories of our Honeymoon in Peru, thank you Terra Andina Hotel!! :)
