“Visit as Part of a City Tour”
Reviewed September 1, 2013

I would recommend visiting as part of a city tour. This would not have been as interesting without a guide to explain its significance. The walking we did at Tambomachay and on the rest of our city tour really helped us acclimate and prepare for the Inca Trail. Definitely worth the visit!

“A little workout...”
Reviewed July 19, 2013

...to see something relatively minor. Towards end of 1/2 day tour; park at bottom and walk the 1/4 mile UP the closed road. Grab some corn [or get a llama pic] on the way up -- people seemed to enjoy that as much as the site itself. In a sense, outdoors baths but not associated with anything else in the near vicinity other than Puca Pucara, so it was unclear to me who the baths were for or whether they had spiritual/other value. Regardless, always interesting to see how relatively primative cultures moved water, especially in such a high region. Think these were natural springs from the mountain itself but the engineering nontheless always make me go, "gee". The walk up is a lungs workout but not thighs: base of road sits at 12,400 feet but only very slightly inclines.

“Just plain interesting”
Reviewed July 16, 2013

If you are into history and pre-columbian civilizations, then this will prove to be quite the spot. Tambomachay is part of the four archeological sites...tambomachay, qenqa, puka pukara, and Saqsayhuaman. they are all with a peek, but especially tambo. Something about the water and the ingenuity of the Inka makes this so with its while. The views are astounding, too.
The downfall is that there is only one way in, and one way out...and you have to pass a pack of the most voracious vendors who will not let you pass. You must have your backbone installed and walk on!
But do go, it is a superb spot.

This small but well built bath and ritual site can easily be combined with a trip to the other ruins near Cusco, Q'engo and Sacsayhuaman.
