“Good location but NOISY”
Reviewed December 6, 2012

I stayed in this hotel on a Gate 1 Tour. I HIGHLY recommend upgrading your hotels if you go with Gate 1. On the first night, I stayed in a room near the street. I was awakened by shaking that I thought was an earthquake. In addition, the windows facing the street would shake every time a car would go by. In the morning, I spoke to 2 other people who had the same experience. (Turns out the 'shaking' was made by the boiler room) We all requested quieter rooms and got them. It was much better in these rooms but the hotel could also use some updating. The food in the restaurant and the service was good. The location is close to all of the major sites.

We stayed here for 2 nights with Gate 1. The first night we were in room 256 and although the room was very nice with 2 single beds, it was extremely noisy. The hotel staff were very accommodating and moved us to a much nicer, quieter room with an inner courtyard. We were moved to room 378 and highly recommend it because it was huge with 3 beds - a king and 2 singles with a very large bathroom, The only complaint was that the bathtub, although clean, looked very dirty - probably due to improper cleaning of the tub surface. The location was very good with lots of shopping and restaurants nearby and the main square was only 2 blocks away.

Room Tip: ask for room 378 for a large quiet room

We stayed at this hotel for two nights on our Gate 1 tour of Peru. The location is great. Just 5 minute walk to Plaza de Armas. Dinning options on the sqaure are plentiful. A 5 minute walk in the other direction take you to the Sun Temple.

Our room was on the second floor above a very busy street. When we opened the windows the room filled with deisel fumes from the trffic below. The street was noisy until late at night. Car alarms were the main cause of the noise late at night. Bring your ear plugs!

The bathroom was small and a little run down. This was perhaps the tackiest room we had of the 4 tourist hotels we stayed in while in Peru. That being said it was clean and the beds were adaquate. One small pillow on each bed seems to be the norm in Peru.

The break was fine but very busy. One day we had to sit in the bar because there were no seats in the dinning room.

For a couple nights it was fine...

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the street.

As other reviews have stated, this hotel is in a good location but very very noisy both internally and from road outside. Very small double beds and bathrooms need renovating badly. Breakfasts are poor., eggs are cold and sit waiting from 4am. Staff are good intentioned , I'm sure but not overly helpful. Would not recommend.

Location and spirit of the hotel is great, but the noise from outside the hotel and the paper thin walls is too much - the staff are nice and will offer to move you to a different room, but dont be fooled, the other rooms are just as noisy (and I was wearing ear plus!!!!)

Room Tip: Book into another hotel

Once again, Gate 1 did a great job selecting this hotel. The staff is friendly and very interesting in making your stay comfortable. The room was comfortable even though the windows in our room opened to the lobby, the noise settled down by 11 p.m. The location was great. It is just 2 blocks from the Plaza de Armas where you can find lots of activity, great restaurants and the cathedral. We ate at the Limo restaurant at the Plaza de Armas and the food was really good. The hotel also offers a nice buffet for breakfast. I would return and I do recommend it.

Room Tip: Try to stay away from rooms facing the street. I was told they are noisy.

This hotel is very well situated for the centre of Cusco with lots of bars and restaurants within a five minute walk. However, the roads outside are very busy at certain times of day and the constant stream of locals outside the entrance trying to sell you things on your way in and out became somewhat tiresome.

The reception staff were very efficient and friendly having to cope with a considerable turnover of guests on a daily basis. Leaving our luggage for an overnight trip to Machu Picchu was not a problem although the change of room caused by it was interesting.

It is quite an old hotel with some quirky character. Our first room for our first three nights was on the third floor and tucked away at the back with no proper window but it was clean and quiet away from the noise of traffic. The bathroom was tiny but quite adequate. On our return we found ourselves on the second floor for two nights which was much noisier but with a bigger, better bathroom. The only downside was that the shower curtain did not fit the bath so we ended up with pools of water on the floor!

Although we didn't use the restaurant for anything other than breakfast we had no complaints about the quality or variety of food on offer. It would have been helpful though if there could have been a constant supply of crockery and cutlery. The constant supply of coca tea on offer was good although it would have been helpful if someone had told us that there was also a constant supply of hot water that could be used for making your own drinks especially as kettles were not available in rooms.

Free wi-fi was good and overall, for a tourist class hotel where one spent little time but sleep it was good value.
