After completing the Inca Trail seeing Machu Picchu appear through the clouds from the sun gate was a breathtaking experience. Walking around the ruins was incredible and so interesting. An absolute MUST!

“Worth the trip”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 15, 2013

From the nail-biting bus ride up the mountain to standing atop the walkways and gazing at the Incan city and the surrounding peaks, Machu Picchu is worth the time and money it takes to get there. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable. The ruins were spectacular and easy to explore. The lunch buffet at the entrance to the site offered a delicious variety of meats, fish, vegetables and desserts. Be aware that only the restroom in the restaurant has bathroom tissue. You have to pay for it or bring your own if you use the only other facility.

“Amazing but be safe !”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 9, 2013

Hi,
I live in Lima since 1 year and I think I could help people to organize their trip to Machu Picchu.
I did organize it alone for saving some money and avoir boring tours...
At 4 in a all organize trip from Lima best price was 3000 USD organized by myself 2000 USD.
Step to fallow :
- Flight : Peru Airline or Lan (from Lima around 150 USD roundtrip)
- Hotel : Inimizu is a good choice for around 55/60 USD per night with breakfast + pickup hotel/airport included
- Tour of archeological places with bus around 50 PEN per person or very good and safe taxi you can call (Richar 942747209) 150 PEN Both you have to add 70 PEN for 4 visits or 130 PEN for 6/8 visits
- Machu Picchu around 150 USD per person for the train I advice to take the Dome for around 164 USD per person on the website of Peru trail + Machu Picchu visit on their website becareful limited entrance per day ! around 50 USD per person + Guide (directly their) for 150 PEN (2 hours) + Bus to bring to Machu Picchu 18 USD per person.

I advice to take between 4 days and 3 nights and 6 days and 5 nights.
depending if you want to take 1 day for Machu Picchu + 1 day for Cusco or 2 days.
the day you go at Machu Picchu :
- Take the train at 6.40 am mean at 5.30 you take the taxi for 30 PEN from Cusco to Poroy train station.
- 3.30h later you arrive at aguas caliente train station, you buy the bus ticket (18 USD go and back) and go for 20 minutes until Machu Picchu.
- Enter with your tickets reserved months ago (you can stamp your passport for free with nice Macchu Picchu image) take a guide for 150 PEN for 2 hours.
- at 3 you came back to the city of Machu Picchu eat something at Fortaleza then take your train back at aguas caliente station until cusco !

For a good organization my advice is:
- To take all the infos and put hours, price, steps in a file or paper for visualize your trip.
- Nice hotel who do not cost you too much because the trip is already expensive inimizu is perfect I think. 1.5km to the plaza de armas (5 PEN by taxi)
- Safe Taxi who don't try to scam you (very important !!): Richar at 942747209
Hope I helped !
Have a nice trip !

“Awesome”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 7, 2013

Go in as early as possible, do your tour and then explore on your own, in our case our tour did not takes us to some places, we explored on our own for the rest of the day, take lots of pictures wear comfortable tennis shoes.
At the entrance there are two signs pointing to machu picchu and the other to waynapicchu, if you take the waynapichu its easier to get to machupicchu you do not have do a big climb, some people might find it difficult.
We also had the Tupuy app that's like a self guided tour no internet connection required, and yes you do have a cell phone signal.
enjoy

“Macchu Picchu is wonderful, but is this a travel agency review?”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 4, 2013

I loved Macchu Picchu, but this review is under a travel agency website.
Machu Picchu is a must if you are in Cusco. A wonderful city built by the Incas. The tour guides do a good job. You can hire one once in Machu Picchu. To arrive there, you need to take a bus for two hours from Cusco to Ollantaytambo and then a train ride for other two hours. I recommend taking the the bus to Ollantaytambo, staying in a hotel at that city and seeing the Ollantaytambo ruins. The next day take the train ride. It's a wonderful experience.
