“Even with the crowds, well worth the visit”
Reviewed June 15, 2013

Well I like to try and write reviews that help, but really just go and enjoy. It is everything everyone who has been says it is. Wear layered clothing to accomodate the temperature changes in the day. Comfortable shoes are good but if there for the day they do not need to be hikng boots. Try to go early, bring a guide, and then spend personal time enjoying the mountain top location and take a few silly pictures! Just have fun.

“Machu Picchu is a magical place”
Reviewed June 13, 2013

The architecture is unbelievable. It's almost surreal to be there. We trekked in to Aguas Caliente and took the bus up. It's worth it to catch the earliest bus, so you have time on Machu Picchu without the crowds. We hiked up to the sun gate. It has an amazing view of Machu Picchu. Bring plenty of water and sun block. And a camera :)

“Incredible especially from Trail via Sun Gate”
Reviewed June 10, 2013

Astonishing site to visit especially when arriving from the Inca Trail via Sun Gate. The ticket we had was a day on trail and a day in Machu Picchu. On arrival via Sun Gate you get an overwhelming sense of achievement, especially after 4 days hiking and camping. The site of Machu Picchu is incredible and illustrates to you why it is one of the seven wonders of the world.

There is a train to the local town which allows you to get a bus up to Machu Picchu. However, I would recommend getting passes for the Inca Trail and getting train to KM104 to start your hike to the sun gate (4-6hour hike) with a guide. Once at Sun Gate enjoy the beautiful site but don't go in the ruins due to lack of time after your hike. Then stay at a local hotel for the night and get bus in morning to Machu Picchu for a 2 hour guided tour. This way you get more time at Machu Picchu to explore as well as doing the traditional inca trail to this ancient site.

“is a Must but you enjoy it so much more when you do a trail”
Reviewed June 9, 2013

I loved it there was absolutely nothing I did not like, but I strongly suggest people to do one of the trails, you enjoy Machu Picchu so much more when you work for it during 3 days rather than just take the train take some photos and just leave.
