“Nice Lil' B & B”
Reviewed May 26, 2013

Los Aticos is in a great location. Handy to local restaurants, the main plaza, the mercado etc. You are made to feel welcomed by the staff, however only one appears to speak proficient English but you can get by with the other staff members. Rooms are clean, comfortable, fresh white bed linen with comfy pillows, and hot water. Breakfast is included - bread rolls, cheese, meat and eggs - you have to cook those, tea and great brewed coffee. You can also use the kitchen to cook your own food, eg. dinner, as there are utensils etc. There is some noise, if you have rooms that have windows that face the kitchen below, usually the guests making breakfast before checking out at 08.00am. Stairs to the accommodation floors, no elevator available but staff are kind and tend to help out if you need help carrying your bags upstairs.

Three concerns. They have have had a new website running for about a month now. On the old website it talks about a laundry room, so to me that means there is a washing machine etc that I can use to do my washing. The new website still states on the front page a 'laundry room' but you have to delve a little deeper to discover that it is by the kilo - 5 soles. A little misleading and one of the reasons I based myself at this hostal, was because there was a laundry room available - even Lonely Planet, states the same.

Another point I raised was that their new website states a free transfer 'to' the airport, and when I requested the 'free transfer' I was told that it was 'from' the airport. After showing the website and explaining what was the difference between 'to' and 'from', I was given a free transfer 'to' the airport.

The last concern about their website was the acceptance of MasterCard as payment. Yes, they take it as a deposit but try to pay the balance at the hostal is difficult, actually you are not able to - Visa ok. Realising, that this was the only way I was going to pay, it was suggested that on the way to the airport we call by the office to pay by MasterCard. Again, this proved difficult as it would not process on the machine and we ended up completing a manual one.

Would recommend this hostal but just might pay to change some wording on their website as it is slightly misleading.

We had a comfortable stay, it is not luxurious but it is perfect for a few nights of basic accommodation. Staff were super friendly. It had good internet, an ok breaky (i had to cook the eggs myself but thats cool). We had a warm cosy room with plenty of bedding, this was the triple room upstairs. Nice hot water... Towels were a bit smelly but i am sure if id asked they would have swapped them in a flash. For the price I would recommend. Oh and the location is perfect. 5 mins to Plaza de Armas.

We ended up staying here based on reviews online and I don't think they were honest. This is definitely a hostel with closed rooms. It's next to all the other hostels in town and it is basically one except it has separate rooms instead of dorm style. We were there in winter for them and it was very cold. We had to sleep with long sleeves, pants and socks and still weren't comfortable. Plus the window in the room went to the rest of the place and it was very loud early in the morning and late at night. It wouldn't be bad if it weren't billed as a hotel but it should also be closer in price to a hostel. I wouldn't recommend staying here. There's nicer hostels and you can get an actual hotel for a bit more. We stayed in a hotel on our way back from Machu Picchu and were much happier. That said, it was clean and it is very close to the town square.

Hotel is located 5 minutes away from major tourist attraction in Cuzco: Armas plaza, Cathedral, churches, local shops, restaruant, and supermaket. Hotel is like 2 story house with open area in the middle of hotel. Room is clean and well maintained. People can cook dinner in the kitchen and self served breakfast. There are rooms for family. It is little noise in the morning because of open area of hotel. There is Karaoke bar outside of hotel and hear noise sound until 12:00 am.

I stayed here back in late June/early July, before and after completing the trek to Macchu Pichu. The hostel is quiet, situated away from busy streets, but conveniently located. The staff were very friendly, looking after my bags while I went to MP, helping with taxis etc, and they keep the place super clean. The bed was the most comfortable I had during my travels, and the shower was excellent. Highly recommended as a base for a trip to Cusco, particularly if you want a decent night's sleep. I would definitely go back - thank you for an excellent few nights.

We spent a total of 5 nights at Los Aticos. The room was comfy, hot water plentiful. The breakfast was good and the ability to use the kitchen and refrigerator is a big plus. The wifi worked well in the room. The location on a quiet side street a few minutes walk from the Plaza is a big plus. Most of all, the staff was attentive, friendly and helpful. I would heartily recommend this hotel to travelers who don't need luxury but appreciate quality and service.
