Hostel Pakcha Real is a very friendly familiar hostel. You have hot shower, clean rooms, breakfast and a wonderful view over Cusco for less money.

Muchas Gracias Daniel

Daniel the owner speaks English well, and dedicated to his guests. His staff (the desk clerk) spoke hardly any English, so we had some trouble communicating our need for a second reservation. They had Visa stickers all over but would not take Visa in payment, nor did they have change for our large bills. The Spanish-speaking guests seemed to enjoy their stay more (and the reviews here reflect that).

The hostel itself is alright, if a bit overpriced. We did get hot water and a clean room. The tile floors are very cold at night; we were only warm under the blankets. Pakcha Real is up up up the hill from the "main drag" of San Blas (Choquechaka), which is a challenge even after acclimatizing to the altitude.

Daniel also sold us a group tour of the Sacred Valley for just 30 soles. It was a convenient way to make that trip, but a bit disappointing. The tour only took us to Pisac and Ollantaytambo ruins; we spent just as much time trapped at a handicraft market and a (very tasty) buffet lunch place.

Staff and owner were great, hot water may take a few minutes but it does come, basic breakfast but I planned to eat in Plaza anyway. Completely cleaned room everyday, the location is up the hill but very safe and quiet. Very safe and a great value for just $15 US per night for a single with private bath, Also free WI-Fi in rooms.
By no means a 5 star, but you are never in the room anyhow.....

Reservations were booked on the wrong month so when we arrived we did not have a room. The owner acts like car salesman when luring you to buy tours around the city. No hot water and pricey rooms for the quality.

Was hoping it would meet my basic needs: clean, hot water, good location, wi-fi, breakfast, and reasonably priced. Hot water not available unless you ask, which is not always possible or convenient. Breakfast not really edible. And I was charged more than the guide-book suggested the price would be. However, people were very friendly, beautiful view and patio, and helpful. With some hot water service and an more complete breakfast this place would be much improved!

The room was nice with a large window and access via a court. Often during the night there was no water and whe the water came back it came with a lot of noise. The staff wasn't friendly and didn't speak a single word of English. They tried to charge a 10% uplift because we paid with VISA. The breakfast was very basic and in an unpleasant room. They did offer free internet.

Daniel, the owner, seemed to be a a pretty kind person....at the begining.. As soon as we arrived to Pakcha real, he told us the rate was $10 per room (average rate in similar hotels around the San Blas area). After 2 days staying there, we decided to pay in advance for the whole week and that's when the trouble started.. he said the $10 rate was per person per day!! and that he never said the price was per room... then he implied the four us were liying and started to rise his voice...as we were on holidays, we tried to avoid any more arguments and just payed his new rate... But wait... there's more!! After that argument we return to our room and I discovered one of my suveniers was unwrapped and broken. I complaint again to him and he said the cleaner is the only person with access to my room, that he didnt break anything and I must be inventing all of this because I was already upset!!!! Next day first time in the morning, we changed to a close by hotel (Jhuno Hotel) they charged around 10$ per night per double room, same class hotel as Pakcha real, closer to the main square, breakfast included and incredible kind and helpful service. With $25 per nite you can get a really good room in the main square...avoid Pakcha Real if you want to enjoy your holidays!!

  • Liked — Nothing at all!
  • Disliked — The owner's attitude and overpriced rates.
