“Ok. Nice location, nice building, could be more straightforward”
Reviewed October 21, 2013

We arrived on an afternoon in October to find that, according to them the Internet had made a mistake and our double bedroom was not available, even though it was reserved and payed through Hotels.com. We were offered a room with two single beds and not even an apology. After some discussion they were nice enough to give us two free dinners, which was a nice gesture. However the fact that we were the only ones for dinner that night the food was ok. The location is great and the room was nicely decorated in a colonial style. However, we had to ask for the soap, shampoo and hair drier, which came on a one by one basis after several reminders, i.e. they would bring the soap after 30 minutes, but not the shampoo which would take 30 more minutes. The breakfast buffet was good tough and the guy in charge of serving it could give the rest of the staff some lessons in hospitality.

Los Apus is an excellent choice for before and after Machu Picchu treks. It is clean and well maintained, beautiful lobby atrium area to "hang out," read and enjoy the tea. Nice rooms and beds, quiet, but an easy walk to the Plaza. Also, there are several good restaurants within a block. The breakfasts were also great.

This is a great hotel - located quite close (approx. 2 blocks) from the Plaza de Armas. Tons of stores in the area to get some gifts to bring back. Also located near numerous museums and cathedrals. The staff were always so nice and helpful. They kept our bags for us when we left for two nights at Machu Picchu, and when we came back the bags were waiting for us in our new room. Their breakfast (included) is great, and we had a really nice server both times. I would definitely recommend this place.

I chose this hotel based on Tripadvisor reviews and it was very good. The room was very clean, bathroom was nice, good heating and my bedroom had a window to the street. The breakfast was excellent, with several local fruits and the employees were very kind and suggested good options for visit and shop.

As a family of 5 we needed some place clean , comfortable , very well located and not too expensive. Sounds like a dream right? Well , this place was it. It was not crowded, it is located at a walking distance from the main "Plaza de Armas", the beds were extremely comfortable , the bathrooms clean and the service just right. For breakfast we were offered fresh fruit , local cereals, eggs and a variety of juices and a variety of breads and hot drinks. We did not need anything else. The door to the place stays closed at all times and I did not have to worry for my kids that were in a separate room. I highly recommend this Hotel.

My fiance and I recently stayed at Los Apus Hotel and really enjoyed our experience. The hotel staff were extremely helpful in making the most of our time in the Cusco area and were always happy to answer our questions, help us make bus reservations, and give advice on how to explore the area around Cusco. The hotel has a really cool atmosphere and there's great views from the porch on the top floor. The breakfast was excellent and overall we really enjoyed our time at this hotel. I would recommend this hotel to other travelers.

Room Tip: The best room has a little porch with a view. I think its #301.

Stayed at the Los Apus Hotel for 3 nights before heading to Ollantaytambo for a night then Aguas Calientes for 2 nights before returning to the Los Apus for another 3 nights – if you do have the time on your trip to see Machu Picchu, spending a few nights at different places is a good idea rather than going on a rushed day trip from Cuzco. The Hotel Los Apus was great – helpful staff; comfortable rooms with loads of traditional character; soft beds; good electric heater supplied (they were having problems with the central heating at the time); nice selection of fruits, bread, cheese and meats at breakfast, with omelettes available also; good location, an easy walk through the cobbled streets to the main square; they even supplied a complimentary birthday cake. Cuzco is a delightful and very picturesque city to spend time in, with loads of bars, restaurants, churches and museums. The hotel staff are able to give good recommendations where to try traditional Peruvian cuisine such as alpaca (very tasty) and guinea pig (not so much). We flew in from Lima and it took us a couple of days to get used to the altitude – Cuzco is 3400 metres above sea level. If you are really affected, then spray cans of oxygen or diamox - if you heading even higher - (under the Spanish name of 'acetazolamida') are available to buy at pharmacies.
