Excellent and very friendly multi-lingual service offered at a central location. Thinking of Cusco as a city buzzing with tourists, the prices in this hotel are quite reasonable.

Room Tip: Go for the rear of the house if you want some peaceful sleep during the night. The front part (inclu...

My fiance and I stayed here for 3 nights and didn't want to leave! The location is perfect and the staff was fantastic. We didn't have an alarm clock and they made sure we were up every morning! They picked us up at the airport and brought us coca tea at no charge every morning (upon request). The fee for coffee or other beverage room service was nominal, and a pretty decent breakfast buffet was available downstairs for about $3/day. I would recommend requesting a room in the rear of the hotel. Our friends stayed in a room close to the reception desk and it was very noisy in the mornings. The room had a safe, a fridge and a hair dryer. The only negative was the low water pressure in the shower, but it worked and the water was always hot! The staff was awesome and we felt welcome, comfortable and safe. If we ever go back to Cusco, we know where to stay!

Room Tip: Third floor rear rooms are quieter

We stayed in Hotel Ruinas before and after walking the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu and we were extremely pleased with our stay. The location is great, just a few blocks from the Plaza de Armas. All of the staff were friendly, courteous and helpful and we enjoyed getting to know them on a first name basis. They were particularly helpful in getting an important item that we had forgotten back to us when we left for the Inca Trail. We had a room on the third floor at the back of the hotel and had a wonderful view of the city. There is no elevator so climbing to our room was good conditioning for our walk! Our room was small but very clean and simply furnished (including cable TV, refrigerator, safe and hair dryer). The beds were comfortable and there was always hot water in the shower. There is a restaurant in the hotel and the breakfast buffet was excellent. There is WiFi in the rooms and a computer in the lobby to access the internet. We will definitely stay here again if we return to Cusco. We highly recommend Hotel Ruinas as a modest, moderately priced hotel with a great staff in a central location.

While on a guided trip to Machu Picchu with Lobstick Travel we stayed two nights in the Hotel Ruinas in Cusco. It is a three level walk-up, but it is very neat and clean with very friendly staff. They provide meals in a dining area and the food was very good. A bus picked us up at the door to take us to the train station for our journey to Machu Picchu.
I would definitely recommend this hotel to any one doing this trip.

We stayed here for three nights before doing the inca trail and for one night after. The staff were welcoming and helpful and we were able to leave some bags and use the hotel safe whilst on the trek. Rooms are basic but decent and clean, and breakfast is simple but tasty. Well located in cusco and felt safe walking back to hotel at any hour.

Beware, the building next door is under construction, so if you like to wake up early to the sound of jackhammers this is the place for you. I know they can't help that a hotel is being built next door and they did refund our second night as we had to move to a place where we could get some sleep.Wish they would have said something to us first. We were taken to a room on the 3rd floor but it was 90 degrees with no ventilation, so we were moved to a room right next to the construction noise. I could tell that they weren't happy about losing business due to the noise. We were told they would pick us up complimentary from the airport, but when I said we were coming in on the train they charged us for pick up.
Perhaps another time this would have been a nice place to stay.

The staff were attentive and bilingual which was helpful. Location is convenient though construction next door was noisy and nessitated closed curtains for privacy from workmen. The room with "matrimonial" bed was a bit small for a week long stay with two people needing some inroom workspace. Breakfast buffet was nice and varied. My blackberry "disappeared" from the restaurant the last day of my stay.

Room Tip: I do believe room size varies. Ask to see your room.
