“great place to be!”
Reviewed June 22, 2008

This is the place to stay while in Cusco!
Very close to the city center. Everything within easy walking distance.

The hotel is really nice. Clean rooms with good facilities and good, clean bathrooms.
The staff is very friendly and helpfull. I was even allowed to use everything in the kitchen to prepare something for my wife (who can avoid stomage problems in Peru??)

Breakfast in a nice room with log-fire (it's cold in the morming).
Sitting area with a few sofa's, free internet and free tea.

On the roof a small, but sunny terrace.

You really miss something nice if you stay somewhere else.
Really recommend it!

Rumi Punku was an outstanding place to stay in Cusco. The cost was reasonable and centrally located. The attendents at the hotel were professional, good spirited and helpful. Rooms are clean and nice. You should enjoy your stay here. .....and the breakfasts were the best of almost all the hostals and hotels we stayed at (probably because the attendents at breakfast were so helpful and wanted you to enjoy.

The only "con" was the internet setup which kept going down and the folks that stayed on them for long time periods. Come on,,,,,,please share :-)

We stayed there at this hostal for 3 nights. My mother, my friend and I we really spent a nice time there. The place was a colonial-like house with an original Cuzco arch as main entrance. Beautiful. People who worked there was always friendly and helpful. The rooms were comfortable, spacious, and clean. The good thing was that 24 hours a day it was available at the dining room a jar with hot water and we could drink coca tea to avoid the puna effect. This was excellent idea. I highly recommend this hostal.

The staff here really tries hard to be helpful and make things easy for the guests. Among other things, if you need assistance planning an outing they will hook you up with a travel service or get a driver for you that you can trust. The breakfast spread at Rumi Punky is great, and they start at 5 am which is helpful for all the early morning departures to Machu Pichu and airport. Those early morning departures mean that you are likely to be awakened by the sound of at least one group leaving in the wee hours, but that's probably the case at many Cusco hotels. The location is great, plenty of good right restaurants nearby and easy walking distance to everything.

Rumi Punku is the perfect place to stay in Cusco. The location is excellent- only minutes from the main Plaza and ruins are just a walk up the hill. The rooms are spotless, the breakfast is fresh and delicious. The reception is always available to help with questions, luggage storage, etc. It is amazing to have all these comforts for such a reasonable price. I would give Rumi Punku my highest recommendation.

Stepping through the Inca Portal of Rumi Punku is like entering a sanctuary. In over 12 years visiting Cuzco twice a year, I have found no other hotel offering all that welcomes me here. It is bright, airy, spotlessly clean and the staff are generous, welcoming and quick to help. I enjoy the many artful touches of class--the flowers in the rooms, colonial antiques placed to treat the eye on all sides and the original paintings on the walls.
The beds are firm and covered with Norwegian comforters, and the rooms have extra blankets, heaters and spotless bathrooms. There is a garden patio, a sunny rooftop terrace, and a remarkable sauna, jacuzzi and workout room overlooking the city! The breakfast is excellent.
Friends who I have recommended stay at Rumi Punku have raved about it. Having found this hotel,
I am no longer looking for something better...there probably isn't anything better to be found in Cuzco.

  • Liked — Everything clean and bright and serene
  • Disliked — I liked everything--every aspect was well considered
