“Very special spot - pix don't do it justice, fabulous location”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 12, 2013

We spent one night at the Hotel Rumi Punku at the end of December, then spent a night in Aguas Calientes at which point the hotel held our luggage, then returned back to Rumi Punku for two nights. We stayed in two different rooms during our time there. Both rooms were comfortable although the second was nicer than the first, with two double beds pushed together to form one. Despite being pushed together, it was quite comfortable.

I can't say enough about how worthwhile this hotel is. The location is fabulous and is just where you want to be: near Cusco's hustle and bustle but far enough away to be peaceful. It's in the fun San Blas neighborhood and is a 5-minute walk from the Plaza de Armas. The quiet cobblestone street is charismatic and safe. Hotel pictures don't do the space justice.

The hotel personnel, especially the manager and Sergio, went out of their way to smooth our journey. Each person that we asked had great and worthwhile food recommendations. They were really happy to help.

The breakfast buffet is basic but they are willing to make you eggs if requested. The courtyard gives the space character. There's free internet and computer access in a computer room.

This hotel is more expensive than a number of other options you can find in Cusco but the level of service, combined with the location, make it utterly worthwhile. It's safe, it's charismatic, and the pictures don't do it justice. If I return, I won't stay anywhere else.

This is a really nice value. Clean and modern, with a rustic feel. Perfect location, a couple of blocks from the Plaza de Armas. So it is convenient, but without the noise. Also, this hotel is located in the cool, artsy, San Blas neighborhood.

Cusco is a very safe city in general, but this hotel gives you that extra feeling of "security".

The staff and manager were super nice.

Recommend this hotel highly

My family stayed two nights at Rumi Punku and it was exceptional, it exceeded our expectations. The rooms were clean and charming, and our room had a great view of Cuzco from the terrace since we were on the third floor. The hotel has multiple courtyards, all with very nice gardens. You feel removed from the busy city streets when you are inside the hotel. The service was exceptional any hour of the day, and they have a great travel agent (Karina) available to help you book guides and transportation, including at Machu Picchu. She was fantastic and everything she arranged for us went off without a hitch. Breakfast was included and was excellent.
Although there are a handful of hotels in Cusco that are higher end, I don't think you will find any better service and quality, and this is a far better value for the price.
It is a couple of blocks from the main Plaza, which is good if you want to have a quiter and safer location at night.
Only two drawbacks that we saw: It is uphill from the Plaza, so if the altitude is bothering you plan your trips so that you don't overdo it running back and forth. Also the interior courtyards and buildings are beatiful, but create a maze effect at first. Pay attention to the route to your room when they escort you there, and then spend a few minutes wandering and get a mental map of the place and you will be good to go.
This was our favorite hotel of our entire two week Peru trip, and we would definitely go back if we return to Peru.

Room Tip: The rooms on the third floor have great views and less interior courtyard noise. Some have terraces...

We finished our trip in Cusco and stayed for two nights at this great hotel. The room was large and very well appointed. Super comfortable beds. And the gardens throughout the hotel were so beautiful. This is a really beautiful little hotel with a great staff and very lovely breakfast included. Plus, it is a very easy walk to the main plaza. Loved our time here!

What an amazing, outstanding hotel. This hotel not only provided an outstanding service, but it is also ideally located within the city of Cusco itself. The hotel provided a pickup service from my point of arrival (on this occasion being from a bus terminal), although disappointed that they do not provide a similar service when departing. On arrival, they bought me a hot cup of coca tea, whilst going through all the formalities of registration, and gave a very extensive summary of their own services, as well as indicating various points of interest throughout the city, backed up by brochures. Upon making enquiries about a trip to Machu Picchu, despite the late hour, and the very short time frame I had, one of the staff (Karina), was absolutely outstanding in arranging all that was required.
This is a hotel that really does work hard to ensure the guests satisfaction.
The rooms are very adequate and functional, including a mini bar and safety deposit box.
It is rated as a 3 star hotel, but could easily pass for a higher rating.

We stayed at Hotel Rumi Punku in December for 4 days. It is a cozy little hotel near Plaza de Armas in Cuzco.

Pros:
1. It’s within walking distance to the Plaza de Armas and many restaurants.
2. The rooms are quite comfortable and quiet.
3. There is a free breakfast in the morning. Coca tea is also available 24 hours a day in the lobby.
4. There is a feeling of safety there because there is a locked gate at the entrance, and someone is always there to greet you.
5. The staff is AMAZING, particularly in reception!! I lost my luggage, and Diana spent so much time contacting the airlines for me, sometimes even several times a day. She also gave me suggestions on where to buy clothes. She was continually there to help me whenever I needed something. She was so empathetic and sweet, and our stay was memorable especially because of her.

Cons:
1. The heaters in the rooms don’t work very well, so the rooms tend to get a bit cold.

Overall, the stay at this hotel was awesome. I would recommend it to anyone traveling to Cuzco!

Pros:
+ Good location, two blocks from the main square with a number of small shops being steps away
+ Free pick up from the airport with a someone to explain the city to you on the way back (official greeter)
+ One of the better breakfasts I had (though I find Peruvian breakfasts are very mediocre in general)
+ There is a mailbox in the hotel and they sell stamps - perfect for postcard senders who can't find stamps or the box
+ One street away from a strip of nice restaurants to dine at (many highly rated on Trip Advisor)
+ There is a security guard/doorman 24/7, which makes it seem more safe
+ Free computer room where there are 4 computers; printing is free too

Cons:
- Our guides told us that the alley by the hotel is not safe, so you need to loop around to the main street to get back at night. The road that the hotel is on is somewhat quiet at night too.
- More expensive most of the other hotels in its quality bracket
- Other than the greeter, who was super friendly, the rest of the staff seems quite average
- Rooms can get chilly at night

Overall a good stay in a clean and safe hotel. It is on the fringes of the main tourist area so it is a good option for those who want a more quiet stay while being fairly close to the major sights.
