“Excellent location to explore Cusco”
Reviewed December 3, 2012

Stayed in this hotel pre and post Inca Trail trek. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel itself as lots of character as it is a maze around different courtyards. We had a matrimonial superior room which was lovely and spacious and also clean. Breakfast is served from 5 a.m. which is really useful as collection time for the start of your trek is usually around 5-5.30 a.m.

The hotel were happy for us to leave the bags that we were not taking trekking with us in the room so we didn't have to lug these around. When we got back to the hotel after the trek they were waiting for us in our new room.

The hotel is located just a few minutes walk from San Blas and also the main Plaza, and if you fancy a quick snack then you can just pop down to Jack's Cafe which is 2 minutes down the road.

Aside from some of the staff being unfriendly, we enjoyed our stay. The rooms are clean, bathrooms are a nice size, the hotel itself is beautiful, and we felt completely safe. Breakfast was fresh and plentiful, too.

Plenty of hot water in the morning, but good luck getting luke warm shower in the afternoon.

Room Tip: Ask for room 401!!

We stayed here one night before our trek to Machu Picchu and one night after for a total of two nights. It is a beautiful oasis in the quaint city of Cusco. The staff is extremely friendly and accommodating, going above and beyond to make our stay comfortable (and they have good jokes!). The rooms are clean and spacious, and the shower is fantastic (loads of hot water and super pressure). The location is perfect for exploring the city. I highly recommend Rumi Punku and hope to go back in the future.

Room Tip: The 3rd floor has gorgeous views of the city, while the first floor lets you enjoy the magnificent c...

We booked Rumi Punku in October 2012 for a two night stay in Cusco on our way to Machu Pichu. We were looking for a boutique hotel not far from the most important sites. It was the right decision. The place is lovely, well maintained, clean, and had a very comfortable bed. Plus, the service was excellent, but discrete. We recommend Rumi Punku highly for your stay in Cusco....

We booked at Rumi Punku in October and it fit all our needs. It is clean and simple, just lovely. Plenty of water pressure and hot water. The staff was excellent and helped us book a city tour and a tour of the Sacred Valley. This is not a "luxury" hotel but it was perfect for us. Good breakfast and the best coffee we had anywhere in Peru. Great location, walking distance to everything of interest in the city. The staff was great for recommendations on dining and shopping. I would advise against a city tour we would have preferred just walking ourselves but other than that we have nothing but praise for this wonderful place. Quiet, and the courtyard was charming. I highly recommend booking the private spa!! For $15 per person you can have 2 or 3 hours in their spa. It has an excellent sauna and a large jacuzzi tub that you fill and empty yourself so you know the water is clean. We had a massage booked there also. It was perfect after a long day of walking. Thank you Rumi Punku!!

Gorgeous, welcoming, comfortable. For me, staying in this delightful, quiet hotel is no accident. My partner found Rumi Punku years ago while she was searching hotels in Cuzco for the best ‘home’ for the friends and the groups we bring to Peru. Now twelve years later it has lost none of its charm and it still gives us all we could hope for.

There is always delight at the first sight of the airy, brightness of the hotel, its inviting courtyards, balconies and rooftop patios. We know our friends will find the bedrooms spotlessly clean and the bathrooms immaculate—and high pressure hot water to satisfy them all. And the staff is willing to help immediately with anything we need—and we often have special requests.

The breakfast buffet leaves nothing wanting. In a delightfully spacious colonial room, tastefully arrayed with antiques, we start with any of 4-5 fresh juices, 6 freshly cut fruits including papaya, mango, and kiwi fruit. There is yoghurt in 4 different flavours and cereal options of puffed, wheat, quinoa and kiwicha. Bakery fresh croissants, chiabatta buns and rolls—and toast if you wish—are there to enjoy with jam or with the savory options offered: sliced ham, cheese, bacon and sausage and eggs (done fresh as you wish). Selection of teas, coffee and hot chocolate for hot drinks…and for guests wanting something a little special there is even avocado and olives.

That’s the way Rumi Punku is. An eye to detail, and just a little bit extra--always the desire to surpass the expectations of their guests. The awards displayed in the office acknowledge the superior service of this hotel year after year.

I had been away from Peru for three years, and was returning with a new group of friends this Fall. As always, Rumi Punku was waiting, and welcoming. It feels like home. My friends feel that way about it now, too.

Room Tip: Almost all rooms offer a view into a courtyard.
