Arrived at the hotel and taken to the room which was large and clean. The staff Jorge and Javier very helpful. As we didn't take advantage of hotel pickup on arrival asked could they take us to the airport which they did free of charge.
The continual availability of hot drinks free internet usage and the fact the towels were changed daily.Breakfast was not just the buffet but also offerred eggs and juice. I thought this hostal value for money on all counts.

I went to Peru with a cupple of friends of my. When we finshed the Inka trail and came back to Cusco the staff of RumiPunku came and picked us up at the train staition. This hotel really made an impression on me. The rooms were nice, clean and comfortable with uniqe decor (never seen anithing like it in Peru).

The breakfast was very good with eggs made as wished, fresh fruit, fresh juice, musli, ham and cheese, and the best coffe I ever tried in Peru.

Free internet was nice too.

I feel we got much for the money and would love to come back!

I strongly recommend this hotel.

My family of 7 (2 seniors, 2 adults & 3 teenagers) just returned from Peru. stayed 3 nights at Hostal Rumi Punku and loved it. It is quiet and charming. Clean, comfortable beds, good breakfast. Easy access to Coca Mate Tea for those acclimating to altitude. Close to Plaza de Armas and good restaurants. Service was great! Everyone was very accomodating. Very secure, electric gate & night security. Always a cab waiting right outside.
Would definitely say again!

I booked this place based on the reviews on Trip Advisor. The reviews couldn't have been more wrong. For what its worth, here are my impressions:

The Good:
* The hotel is ok. Its clean, staff are nice and in a good location; Only few minutes to the main plaza.
* They stored our luggage while we went to Machu Picchu for free.

The Bad:
* We paid $80 USD per night for this place. It is nothing special. After seeing a bunch of hotels and hostels we realized that it was slightly better than the good hostels in town (we eventually moved to San Blas which is right down the street closer to the main square for 32USD) but charge almost 3 time the price. You can get a good hostel between 25 - 35 USD.
* I had requested and emphasised that I wanted a double bed (also called a matrimonial in Peru) b/c I was proposing to my girl friend on this trip at Machu Picchu. When we returned after getting engaged, they had given our double bed room away and gave us a room with 3 single beds and no other rooms available. So for the next two nights we slept in single bed together.

The Ugly:
*I was told I can pay with Visa. When I came to pay, they said there is a 8% charge to pay with Visa (The exchange rate is 2.76 Soles / USD and they charged us 2.98 Soles / USD). I asked them to refund my Visa payment, went down the street to a bank machine that vends USD and got USD to pay the 240USD for 3 nights.

went with my boyfriend and stayed in a double bed with private bathroom. the room was awesome! tv, with a heater, whitest bathroom ever and very spacious. the pictures dont do it justice. the staff was pretty friendly very helpful in guiding us in cuzco the only thing was we were told that we could get a room after going to machu picchu but the day we left it was not confirmed and they weren't helpful in helping us find an alternative.

I loved this place! First, the hotel is really beautiful, from the Inca entrance, to the artful landscaping and the spare but elegant rooms. Also, the neighborhood is great, within 5 minutes walking distance to a number of good restaurants and shops, within ten minutes of the Plaza de Armas without being in the thick of it. The rooms are also quiet, as long as you don't get stuck in one of the few rooms right off the lobby - make sure you get a room in the back. The breakfasts are excellent - one of the few places in Cusco serving good coffee - and they have a stash of mate de coca and hot water available at all times for travelers who wish to partake of the local beverage of choice. The best part though is the incredibly helpful staff (especially Jorge whom I promised I would mention in this review). A great hotel for everyone.

  • Liked — Location, ambiance, staff
  • Disliked — Internet access was spotty, but not really improtnat as there are many internet cafes in the area.

We stayed here three times (a total of nine nights), in January and February, 2008. We found this hotel a charming home away from home, and enthusiastically recommend it. This hotel is almost unnoticeable from the street. Once inside, it is a surprising delight.

The staff made us feel welcome and comfortable, always greeting us with a smile and standing ready to do anything possible to make our stay, and our visit to Cuzco, more pleasant. One employee in particular, Jorge, was truly outstanding...a great guy.

The hotel is in the San Blas area, an easy walk from Plaza de Armas, especially in the day, when a small walkway shortcut is open to the public), Some other area hotels require strenuous walking (at 11,200 feet), but the grade to this one is quite acceptable.

The interior courtyard is attractively designed. The rooms are not overly large but are comfortable and clean. Bathrooms are spotless, the cleanest we found in Peru. The rooms are on three levels. They have telephones and cable TV. For cold nights each room has an electric heater and fluffy comforters.

We suggest rooms 305 and 306 as best for couples, and the upper floor is the most quiet (although except for fireworks set off on surrounding hills during festivals, the hotel is exceptionally quiet anyway).

Breakfast (included) is not elaborate, but eggs are cooked to order, the fruit is fresh, the breads fresh and the coffee rich and hot. The breakfast area seemed a bit understaffed during morning "rush hours." (Note: Frommer's Guide says breakfast is served on the top floor. Perhaps it once was, but it's now served at street level.

Security is a high priority here. We felt very safe. We stored luggage while traveling out of town, and knew it woudl be well protected.

Two computers are available (free), as is wireless service for those carrying laptops.

Hot Coca tea (to minimize problems caused by the altitude) is available (free) around the clock.

There are walking sticks for guest use, but no umbrellas.

We didn't use it, but a sauna is available (at significant extra charge).

The hotel is near restaurants (try the delicious trout at the little local restaurant just down the hill and across the street), stores and museums. Taxis are always available (3 soles, no tips expected, to anywhere in central Cuzco). Cheap and quick laundry service is available very nearby, as are small convenience stores (one of which, just down the hill and on the same side of the street as the hotel, is run by a totally delightful little lady).

We paid $50/day (no tax for tourists, no service charge). Note that dollars will be converted to soles if you are paying by credit card, and you will lose a bit on the conversion rate.

Our only complaint involved travels services provided by an outside contractor named Sergio. He picked us up at the airport and set up one good walking tour (guide: Ronny), but he failed miserably in arranging other tours.

Other than that, we hearily recommend this hotel as a reasonably priced, comfortable, well-located facility run by an outstanding staff.
