“Our family's stay at Rumi Punku”
Reviewed October 12, 2012

Hotel Rumi Punku is a beautiful hotel with comfortable rooms - and attractive garden areas. The complimentary breakfast was very good with many selections to choose from. The staff was friendly and helpful. We would stay there again if we came back to Cusco. A great place for family to gather. JoAnn Brayshaw, Cincinnati, Ohio U.S.A.

This hotel was a bargain. It was in a great location - about 5 minutes from the main plaza but located on a quiet safe street. It had a good breakfast and friendly staff. Rooms were big, clean with a great shower. The social areas are also nicely laid out.

I stayed 2 nights for which there was no reduction in price from the 1 night price
My room was not touched at all the second and all my towels and mats were soaked as the hand basin leaked permanently
There was no water in the room the second night and when I went and asked for it at reception was told we only provide it on the first night (even though they still charge the same for the second) so I then had to walk back out up the street to buy water at 9 pm
The room was noisy and relatively expensive by sa standards and I have since found out from fellow travellers there are far better deals closer to the town centre available

My husband and I stay at Hotel Rumi Punku for three nights in October 2012. An amazing place. Rooms are big, clean and with everything you need, including hairdryers, robes, slippers, soap and shampoo. Plenty of hot water, great shower! Located very close to the Plaza d'Arms (where you want to be) in a very safe location. Also has a "security guard" at front door, with a gate that can be locked, but we never felt unsafe in the slightest, even walking at dark back to the hotel. Good working heater that comes on over night until morning. We stayed in room 113 - it had a big colour TV with HBO, an in room stocked fridge with water, pop and alcohol and a bowl full of snacks that could be purchased. A phone in your room (makes a big difference when you have kids back at home!) A good Wifi connection was everywhere, including your room, the breakfast room and the court yards. There are outdoor courtyards throughout the hotel, all different in terms of level of privacy, sun, shade, etc. All have chairs, tables and umbrellas. Perfect place to enjoy morning coffee, or to look at the stars at night. Our city guide told us that the Rumi Punku was built on top of a special religious site of the Inkas - as the entrance way to the hotel has the Inka double door jam. Would have loved to find out more about this! Great breakfast in a dining room filled with interesting items. 24/7 tea and coffee station, business centre with computers - able to arrange our boarding passes and have them printed at reception. The day we were to catch our flight out of Cusco, there was a transportation strike - the hotel got us a private driver and even though there were demonstrations and roads closed, he was able to get us to the front gates of the airport. Can't thank them enough! This hotel cost a little more than we paid for other accommodation, but it was certainly worth every penny! So glad we stayed at the Rumi Punku.

Room Tip: We had a first floor room. If you have difficulty with stairs, ask for one! Originally tried to boo...

The best value in Cusco by far. Spic and span, impeccable service and attention to detail. European linens and big comfy beds (at least in room 307). Shower pressure and instant hot water were just what we needed after 2 weeks in the jungle. The staff couldn't be more accommodating and the location was perfect – on a quiet street, yet a quick walk to the main plaza. If you're going to Cusco and can spend between $100- $130 per night, this is the place. Comparable to the $200/night hotels for half the price. Go!

Arrived this morning after a long travel in from uk via four hours sleep in Lima. Met at airport and dropped in front of the hotel. First view after nearly 24 hours travelling was the most beautiful inca front door and a view into the courtyard. The bedroom was very clean with seriously comfy beds soft pillows and clean crispy sheets. Bliss. Thanks to comments on trip advisor about plenty of hot water I realised ours was not working called reception and they sorted it in minutes. Really helpful staff

Loved all the little things that make this hotel so great, beginning with check in . When you arrive you are shown to a little seating area and offered a cup of coca tea and oxygen if needed. The registration is done here instead of standing at the front desk. Lovely touch, especially if you are affected by the altitude. The hotel has lots of open spaces and courtyards with hanging flowers which are just lovely. They have four computers set up in the business center for use, with webcams and skype ready. The outlet in the bathroom could be switched from 220 v to 110 v so you can use either. The staff always goes above and beyond. We stayed one night then were in the Sacred Valley and MP for three nights before returning to Rumi Punku. When I asked about paying for that first night before leaving, I was told not to worry about it; just pay everything when I returned. Karina, the resident travel agent/customer service person was amazing. She arranged trips for us last minute after being called very early in the morning, always promptly returned calls and always had a smile on her face. Breakfast is healthy, bountiful and delicious. The hotel is about a 10-15 minute walk from the Plaza. Nothing but positives about this place.
