Owner description: This ruin was once the most important temple of the Incas, which was later used as a base for the Church of Santo Domingo when the Spanish conquered the city.

This was the start point of our half day tour and enabled our guide to start our induction into Inca culture.

What was so impressive was to see the amazing craft of the Inca in the building of walls and temples. Brilliant.

A must if one is to understand the relationship between the original Ketchua Indians and their Inka--and the Catholic Church and it willingness to wipe out the indigenous culture and replace it with cathedrals.

The Peruvians are so good at preserving and presenting these wonderful sites, Unesco must recognise this and be proud, the carvings, the building techniques, the history, you can almost taste it.....

The unmistakeable Inca bulding techniques are so recognisable despite the Spanish additions, the light shining through the arches was very atmospheric, and nice views of Cusco, a Must!

If you want to know more about the colonial art during the Spaniard colonization, this church is an example of it. The paints, arquitecture as a whole is great.
