“Great Place to stay”
Reviewed March 27, 2007

Pros:

-Almost everything. Great place, simple accommodations (no tv, phone - but aren't needed)
- Great Staff ( Only 1 bad recommendation from them: don't go to El Truco restaurant )
- Nice service & great cheap breakfast.

Cons:

- Do call a few times to confirm reservation
- A little more expensive than average, but hotel supports a great cause.
- Wood floors creak a lot but lower rooms cannot hear it
- One heater might not be enough

Bottom line:

Stay there.!

I stayed at Niños Hotel during New Year 2006.
This place is fantastic. The staff is super friendly and helpful, the rooms are very clean and simply beautiful. All rooms are very unique and decorated with taste. I would without a hesitation stay at this place again.

I Stay in lots of Hotels around the world , but this place stays in my mind, In my job I stay in 5-star hotels, & the rest of the time its budget , this place has better , friendlier service than a lot of 5-star places I use , & although I average around 50 Hotels per year this is the first time I have felt the need to let any one know,
& the ambiance is wonderful Stay here!

My mother and I stayed in Los Ninos 2 before and after the Inca Trail. I am not sure we ever had an option to chose which hotel we stayed in, but I would choose Ninos 1, as it is closer to the center of town (by 1 block or so, but it makes a difference in the altitude). Also, Ninos 2 houses the program for the kids, and they are there early in the morning (kids are sometimes loud).
This being said, it was a perfect place to stay in Cuzco. I feel bad giving it 4 instead of 5, but the tranquility of the place was disturbed by the children (which I know is the purpose of this place).
No TV, radio, or outside influence. Like walking into an oasis in the middle of a busy city. The street it is located on is off the beaten path, and a bit uphill, but worth the effort. We had a little difficulty with the altitude and orientation of the city, but it was fine.
Breakfast was great. There is a small area with a fireplace and books and magazines as well. Everyone was very friendly. It was VERY safe. They kept our luggage during the Inca Trail, without problem.
There is not really a big sign at the door, so remember where you are. It is cheap and clean. Stay there.

Everything written about Ninos Hotel is true - the friendliest of staff, lovely courtyard, spacious rooms, excellent value, great location for wandering the old city, safe and peaceful.

We stayed 5 nights in all, in between trips to Machu Picchu and Manu. We left our bags in perfect safety while we were away. The breakfast menu was so good we ordered from it for dinner one night when we were too tired to leave the hotel.

We had last minute changes to our Manu trip, leaving early and returning late and Ninos was very understanding about the changes . They rebooked us and cancelled a night without any problem. We travelled as a family of 5, with children aged 15,11 and 7 - and everyone loved it. We'd go back to either Ninos 1 or 2 anytime!

just stayed at ninos hotel in cusco for 3 days & it was simply brilliant.

booked it as a result of the reviews on tripadvisor & it lived up to, even excelling, in every way. we strayed in ninos 2 which is the newest of their hotels. the rooms were superb both from a comfort point of view & in design.

the breakfast was outstanding! Whilst not included it cost hardly anything & beat the best breakfasts we have had anywhere.

the staff we friendly & very helpful to the extreme.

Charming, clean and comfortable place. The interior is completely unexpected from the outside. Theres a beautiful brightly painted balcony running around a large courtyard. The courtyard features small tables with blue bottles with flowers, there are black and white photos of the children on the walls and pot plants filled with roses and pretty flowers. The rooms take their names from the children and have high ceilings, whitewashed walls, beams and art deco style bathrooms.

We stayed at Ninos Dos (2) which is a little further from the square than Ninos 1, but only 5mins further. They have a great inside "cafeteria" with a fireplace, books and magazines...and they have the best cake I have ever tasted (10 kgs later!) for 4 soles.

What a huge achievement for the Dutch lady who set this up. Quite admirable. If you dont stay here at least go and visit and see what she has achieved for these children.

They can do your laundry in one day for about 50 soles.

  • Liked — cleanliness, decor, good cause, excellent friendly service
  • Disliked — nothing
  • Tips/Secrets — Get a room away from the small school if you need peace and quiet. Cake is delicious.
