We stayed at both Ninos Hotel I (in Cusco on the Calle Meloc) as well as the Hacienda in Huasao, about 30 minutes outside of Cusco.

The Hotel was decent for the price - about $45 for a double room with bathroom included. The rooms were clean, relatively spacious, and the bathrooms were clean, if a bit cramped and a little outdated in decor. My main complaints are that the floorboards in the room were extremely creaky, and that the rooms were not at all soundproofed. It was very easy to hear people coming in and out of the hotel all night, as well as rolling their luggage down the outside corridor. My other major complaint is that they tried to switch my sister's room mid-stay without offering to compensate her for her trouble in the least.

On the other hand, our stay at the Ninos Hacienda in Huasao was FANTASTIC. It is a lovely compound of bungalows, cafe, stables, and outdoor activity areas that makes for a very relaxing stay. Even better, the staff at the Hacienda are extremely friendly and accommodating, and go out of their way to ensure your stay is as comfortable as possible (say hello to Enma - she is the best!). The Hacienda offers guided horseback tours (run of course, from the well-kept stables on the premises), which are led by the very capable and chatty Freddie. This has become my new happy place, and I hope to return for another stay sometime soon.

Also worth noting - all profits from the Hotel and the Hacienda go towards a foundation for Peruvian children, so you can feel good about spending money at these establishments.

Overall, the Hotel was good-to-very-good, but the Hacienda is an amazing experience - grab a spot if there's any availability.

When in Cusco for our recent two week trip, we always stayed at Ninos 1 and loved it. The rooms are a good size and super clean (even the shared bathrooms are very clean). The staff is incredibly helpful and warm, they really care about making sure you have a good stay. Finally, its nice to start the day with a simple breakfast in the hotel courtyard where you'll find others hanging out, reading, etc.

The main Plaza is an easy 5 - 7 minute walk from Ninos and its nice because its far enough away from the Plaza's tourist trap so there's some peace and quiet. Also, next door, there is an internet place for 1 Soles (30 American cents) an hour. Ninos has free wi-fi but we didn't bring our laptop.

In short, Ninos is convenient, clean and highly, highly, highly recommended.

The only thing to note is that you can get bottled water for about .50 soles less (15 American cents) at the markets in the main Plaza D'Armes

We stayed in a nice place for around $120/night the first 4 nights we were in Cusco, then we walked over to Ninos and dropped off our bags in their deposit before heading to the Inca Trail. They kept two of our bags including my laptop for 4 days. Then we returned after the inca trail and stayed one night in Ninos. The rooms are very cute and clean and the restaurant was very comfy and the food was really good too. Highly recommended. Great price and great cause.

Our family of 4 stayed at Ninos 2 in April 2009 for 4 nights, loved the place in terms of service, cleanliness, hot showers, quiet courtyard, good value, great location. The staff speak English well and are very helpful and considerate, they truly enjoy what they are doing.

Nice quick walk to the Plaza, get your hair cut on the way, buy an empanada, close atart to Sacsyhuaman.

Ninos was fabulous. We were in Ninos 1 and it is in a great location, the courtyard is a beautiful place to sit and read, the staff are fantastic, the rooms are spotless, the value for money is unbeatable, and the omelettes at breakfast are unforgettable.
I would stay here over a five star hotel any day of the week.. To top it all off they do great work supporting under privileged kids in Peru.

Can't say enough about how great this place is. Stay here for sure.

I can't praise this establishment enough. The staff were extremely pleasant; the breakfast delicious; the rooms bright, clean and warm at night. Lots of hot water and clean bathrooms. The courtyard is just delightful and a wonderful place to relax while adjusting to the altitude.
It was a little noisy at night so bring ear plugs - barking dogs, doorbell ringing, all things that are commonplace anywhere in Cuzco. Certainly no rowdy parties!
It was just a little bit further from the main square, but a little exercise never hurt anyone and I found it safe to walk to even at night.
This was my favourite place in all of Peru - I will most certainly be back the next time I'm in Cuzco!
