Owner description: Dominating the northeast side of the Plaza de Armas, this magnificent renaissance-style, 16th-century building is in the shape of a Latin cross and contains nearly 400 colonial paintings including the Last Supper by Marcos Zapata.

once, the centre of Aztec culture, now a reminder of the horrible destruction of the Spanish.
Still a beautiful building, but bitter-sweet.
Keep an eye out for depictions of the Last Supper... Jesus is eating Guinea Pig!
Culture cross-over at its finest

A truly beautiful Catedral. Bid of a shame you have to pay to go inside, but it's well worthed once you see the inside.

This church was beautiful. Had many different areas within the church one more beautiful than the next. You can not take any photos while in the church, it would have been so nice to capture a few of the fantastic elements of this church
Definitely a must see in Cusco

My only complaint is that I was with a group and couldn't stay as long as I wanted. This place is so beautiful and there are things to look at everywhere! I would love to go back and wander around by myself. You can't take pictures, so that is disappointing.

This is an excellent example of Spanish colonial church architectural set, as Ferdinand and Isabella intended in their Royal Proclamation of January 1492, on a public square near to other key functions of government. It is a somewhat unusual church in that it is not dominated by the usual defining central aisle with naves either side and altar at the far end. When we visited there happened to be an organ concert underway, which was in this location quite magical.
