Tourists MUST purchase a tourist package that includes the Cathedral and two other religious sites in various parts of Cusco. In other words, you are forced to but tickets to 3 locations when you only want to visit one. The other two locations included in the mandatory ticket was a religious museum and another church on the other end of town. We wanted to visit the beautiful convent located right next door to the cathedral but that was a whole other package for sale. The Cusco tourism board would rather rip off tourists than make things convenient for visitors that keep the economy afloat. Also, there are no photos allowed anywhere in the cathedral, but apparently they allow large and extremely loud tour guides who shout throughout the cathedral. Again, they prefer the admission prices rather than let visitors take harmless photos and video without a flash.
You would be much better off not going inside the cathedral and just take photos outside and spend your money elsewhere. The cathedral was a huge letdown.
