“Save your $20 and take a photo outside”

Tourists MUST purchase a tourist package that includes the Cathedral and two other religious sites in various parts of Cusco. In other words, you are forced to but tickets to 3 locations when you only want to visit one. The other two locations included in the mandatory ticket was a religious museum and another church on the other end of town. We wanted to visit the beautiful convent located right next door to the cathedral but that was a whole other package for sale. The Cusco tourism board would rather rip off tourists than make things convenient for visitors that keep the economy afloat. Also, there are no photos allowed anywhere in the cathedral, but apparently they allow large and extremely loud tour guides who shout throughout the cathedral. Again, they prefer the admission prices rather than let visitors take harmless photos and video without a flash.

You would be much better off not going inside the cathedral and just take photos outside and spend your money elsewhere. The cathedral was a huge letdown.

“Incredible!”

Wow is all I could muster up as I was lead through the various parts of this cathedral. The architecture and many artifacts are beautiful and amazing but so is the rich history behind the building and people who resided over it....those were pretty wild times back then!

“Wonderful for history buffs”

While Catholic Cathedrals are not normally something we would tour, we found the $10 tour of the Cathedral a wonderful introduction to the art and history of Cusco.

“Impressive and beautiful”

The Cusco Cathedral is a must if you are in the city. Pay particular attention to the Inkan eye-winks in the Cathedral's version of The Last Supper, including Jesus' final meal of the Peruvian specialty, guinea pig.

“Beautiful”

We attended Sunday morning mass here as we'll as a visit with our group. Both experiences were amazing. The choir at the mass were exceptional. It was made up of 5 girls and an organist. They produced such a great sound. The Inka influences in the art works was very interesting
