“Very nice historical area”
Reviewed June 7, 2013

The Plaza is surrounded by old churches and a nice park in the middle. There are shops and tourist information everywhere. You should venture off the main square and it seems each side road has its own uniquness. It was not hard to find other interesting squares and people. Do expect to get accosted by all sorts of vendors or trinket sellers in the Plaza and side streets. If ytou politely say no thank you they do leave you alone. We were also there in the early evening and felt safe.

“Place where you can spend hours.”
Reviewed June 7, 2013

This is the place where you can just spend hours doing people watching. It is a happening place, where something or the other is happening. We were there for 3 days, one day we had town parade, other day Corpus Christi parade. Locals seem to come down and enjoy a good stroll on Sunday afternoon and on top you have shoe shine kids, hawkers asking you buy something. Lots of restaurant around but all are touristy and pricey. You can find more authentic and cheaper food in some tucked away roads away from plaza aramas.

“Great place to people watch”
Reviewed June 6, 2013

The plaza is buzzing with life, with tourists snapping away and locals meeting, it's a hive of activity.

The two Cathedrals are worth visiting but just sitting on one of the benches and taking in the activity around you is a nice way to spend a few minutes. There are colourful locals dressed in traditional garments, whilst they do ask for $$ to take a picture with them. There are a number of restaurants and cafes that also line the plaza, from cheap and cheerful to the more fine dining options.

I would recommend coming back in the evening as well to see the Plaza lit up, we were lucky to see a fireworks display in front of the Cathedral on one of the nights we were there.

“Nice to see!”
Reviewed June 1, 2013

I had the opportunity to be there during a religious ceremony with procession and it was wonderful. And even during a normal day this place is really nice and it would be perfect if you don't have street vendors and "shoe shiners" harassing you every minute (impossible to be quiet, they are many and always trying to sell you something).

“Nice place”
Reviewed May 31, 2013 via mobile

Quite a few decent restaurants in the area, the Cathedral and square are lovely to look at, my favourite time to visit was in the evening when the hills were lit up with their yellow and blue lights, beautiful.

Note to first timers: not everyone is an art student trying to sell his/her art and not all of the massage parlours are legit so be careful and say "no thank you" and keep walking, unless you're into that sort of thing.
I travelled alone and had no real problems, only being accosted a few times by people trying to sell me things, generally nice people though. You cannot say you've visited Cuzco without seeing plaza de Armas
