We thought the Plaza de Armas was a very attractive square with the fountain in the middle and surrounded by the cathedral, churches and colonial buildings. Whilst we were there we enjoyed a wonderful street parade with colourful costumes and music against this backdrop.
Yes, there are a lot of vendors which can be a bit annoying but when we said no, we were not pestered and we felt rather sorry for them trying to make a little money and getting so many refusals.
It was a good place to just sit on a step and take it all in. There are some restaurants around and we had lunch in the Irish pub looking out over the square.
