“Great place to purchase art”
Reviewed July 24, 2013

San Blas was a bit of a hike from the Plaza de Armas but it is worth it. There are lots of shops selling amazing religious paintings, as well as the traditional touristy stuff too. Several good restaurants are located here too.

“very touristy”
Reviewed July 20, 2013

The district is for artists, unfortunately most of the work on display is more touristy than artzy, nevertheless if you spend enought time there you can find some interesting work that elsewhere could be worth something

Pachapapa restaurant is here; lots of shops selling Cusquena art.
Church here has one of the most impressive carved wooden pulpits in the Western Hemisphere.

“Worth the hike”
Reviewed July 17, 2013

San Blas isn't undiscovered. But it's better than milling through the throng of people closer to the plaza. If obviousness bothers you, San Blas is a partial cure: the walk up from the plaza may make your head throb (given that you're already at 11,000 feet above sea level), but it's worth the hike to find quality artisan shops, funkier little bars and 4-table restaurant nooks, lesser-known courtyards and a wandering llama or two.

In San Blas, the general law of overseas travel applies: The less convenient a place is to get to, the fewer bozo travelers you'll encounter and the more interesting your experience will be.

“Worth a tough walk up”
Reviewed July 16, 2013

Very steep clim up here but it's a nice area. On your first day if you are not acclimatised yet you may find it to tough going to get to it so leave it to the second day
