Excellent views, interesting history. We walked up to the ruins from Plaza de Armas (note: we are from colorado and live at 7000 feet, and are in pretty good shape). Ignore people trying to sell you a tour on horseback. Take a cab inbetween ruins, shouldn't cost more than a few Soles.

Do not forget to slide from the rocks, investigate deep tunnels and play with llamas which were plenty there. Best to climb from Cusco downtown using the stone stair. Overall it takes about 30mins same as if you go by taxi as it has to navigate many side roads before getting into there.

This was an excellent experience. With the benefit of a guide, we wandered around this site learning about it's history. The stonework is incredible. Definitely worth a visit.

This site is full of rich culture and history. The largest stone used in the structure is 128 tons! Be sure to bring your camera, sunscreen, and hat. Definitely hike up the terraces to take in the phenomenal view!

Great afternoon, impressive ruins. I walked back to Cusco in about 1/2 hr, I would not recommend walking up to it if you are not acclimatized, it's rough going. I got half way up and decided to take up a couple of locals on an offer or a horseback tour of the plateau.
