The size of this Inca site and the size or the rocks that are fitted together is amazing. What went into building this site and how the Inca's used it is something to ponder.

Loved this archeological site. I was only sorry that it was the last stop of a long day so we didn't spend as much time wandering around as we should have. The views to Cusco are amazing.

Sacsayhuaman is the perfect way to get started in Cusco and the Sacred Valley before you trek to MP. It gives you a first glimpse into how amazing the Incans really are. The ruins are just outside of town. It's an easy climb as you get acclimated to the higher altitudes in Cusco region. Rest up in the morning before you go. Drink lots of coca tea. Lots of guides are available and you will make the most of your time there with a small group tour of the area. June 24 is Cusco Anniversary and there are huge performances there that day. Beautiful view of Cusco city from the top.

I did all four inca ruins around cusco, and of course Sacsayhuaman (or Sacsaywaman) is by far the most impressive. If you only have to time to see the 1 when you're in Cusco then make sure to see it. If you can spend the say then see all four. They are all pretty interesting!

The massive boulders that make up this archaeological site are worth viewing, but be sure to have a guidebook or guide to put them in context for you. Have your photo taken in the giant stone doorway and look for llamas. Then hike up the hill (in March there were flowers everywhere) for awesome views of Cusco
