We've had a couple of good nights here.... But it's our third night and next door is a banquet hall and tonight they are living up like Saturday night fever. It is the noisiest room I have ever stayed in (truly). It's nearly 1am and there seems to be no end in sight to the noise. The hotel is booked so there is nowhere to move us. Unless you had a guarantee that you would not be assigned a room on the north side of the building; I simply would not stay here. I'm not sure why the hotel would utilize these rooms with only a paper thin wall between you and a noisy party hall.
We enjoyed our stay in the Costa del Sol Picoaga in Cusuco very much. Everyone treated us great. I especially loved the courtyard. The breakfast buffet was everything you could want. We even got free drink tickets on arrival. We stayed 3 nights prior to our trip to Machu Picchu, and then 1 more before going back home. We traveled with our college age son on spring break so our room was a triple. The air conditioning worked perfectly, and everything was very clean and comfortable with plenty of room. The location of the hotel was the best. We were literally right around the corner from the town square and all the restaurants. I give special thanks to Anna Marie at the front desk for her help with everything. We loved Cusco and would definitely stay here again.
Have stayed here twice!! We love this hotel and are pretty picky people. Everyone was so friendly, the rooms were VERY clean and fresh, lovely courtyard, all you can drink coca tea, very nice breakfast buffet with such friendly helpful staff, and the location was excellent.....I had a bad knee during our trip, but the hotel was so close to everything!! Loved it here. Got all our messages from reception super fast. Some people say the rooms are "old style".....remember where you are people!! The style fits in perfectly....this hotel is an old castle/fortress I believe. Air conditioning worked perfectly, rooms were nice and fresh and pretty. Can't think of anything remotely negative to say.
The employees are doing their best to offer a good service, but if you don't like old style, heavy dark carpets and complicated/old style, stay away. The rooms are large but really not pleasant, with old or cheap materials except for the bed throws which are in cotton. The hotel was also quite expensive and we changed to another one in town for $100 less/night and a cleaner/more contemporary set up.
Costa del Sol in Cusco was a very clean, comfortable, convenient place to stay. We spent three nights there prior to our trip to Machu Picchu and another on our return through to Lima. The staff was friendly and very helpful. The location was excellent, i.e. close to easy shopping and the center of town. Easy walking distance to restaurants and if you wanted to take a taxi, they are very inexpensive. The food in the restaurant was okay. Certainly, for the included breakfast there was a variety and it provided a good, convenient meal. However, for lunch or dinner it's better to go to a nearby restaurant in our opinion.
