We were thoroughly looked after by Alpaca Expeditions. Saul, our tour guide, spoke great English and let us go at our own pace. We opted for the vegan option and were spoilt with meal options - Silverio our cook, and Valentina were outstanding and produced an amazing quality (and quantity) of food. this no doubt made our trek even more enjoyable. The trek itself is definitely challenging but not overwhelming. I was pleased to find that we made good time and even ahead of schedule. The Inka sites are stunning although extremely spread out. Not an issue but we were very tired by the end. Saul spoke to us in detail about each site and was very knowledgeable. We were extremely impressed with the crew’s hiking skills. We would arrive to the campsite from a long trek to warm tea and a dry tent which our horseman, Alfredo, had set up where we could relax before dinner. The mountain regions that you pass are simply stunning as well as the villages where people are very welcoming and gracious.

We booked the five and a half day Saltkantay trek as a couple but I had to pull out due to sickness at the last minute. No problem to Alpaca. They immediately arranged for me to go to MP by train to re-join the excursion, including a 5.30 a.m. pickup to go to the train station. My friend , a vegan, did the trek and besides being amazed by the scenery , the efficiency of the guide and muleteers was delighted with the amount and variety of vegan food the chef was able to conjure up on a mountainside. On the rest of our South American tour she has struggled to find suitable food and gone hungry but had the best and most food of our entire trip whilst on the Alpaca Expeditions trek. Well done guys, a truly professional company. Highly recommended.

I went on the four day Inca trail trek from 10-13 January and I cannot describe how amazing it was in every way. Getting lucky with the weather and the group we were with was amazing, but mostly it was about how incredible our tour guide, Robinzon was as well as the porters. Robinzon was so knowledgeable and passionate, but also so fun and was always making sure we were safe, comfortable and having fun too. ‘Lessons with Robinzon’ was brilliant each day, learning about the nature around us as well as Incan people and their history. As for the porters, I can’t remember all of the porters names but some I do remember were Julio, Mario, Estoban, and Sabino (most of them were from San Salvador). Their friendly smiles and applause each day was heartwarming, and the food that they can prepare in the mountains will blow your mind. I absolutely loved those guys and how well organised, clean and comfortable an experience they gave us.

Could not recommend this experience and Alpaca Expeditions highly enough.

Dear TashaStoi,

We are so happy to know that you had ana amazing time and that the weather was good along your trek. We like to think that our clients become part of our family and it's beautiful to know that you felt that way with your group.
Our porters are unbelievable, they can do such a hard work but keep a smile, they are the most important part of this company, we can't be happier with them.
Mario, he is a rock star, what he can do cooking is beyond words.
Thanks for your nice words and hope we can meet again.

My three friends and I completed the Salkantay Trek to Machu Pichu last week and I cannot say enough good things about Alpaca Expeditions. Javier and Aldolfo were incredible guides and the entire crew was very professional. The outfitters truly allow you to just focus on enjoying the hike and they handle the rest. I was impressed by the quality of the accommodations (great mix of hotel, hobbit hole and tenting), food (all fresh local cuisine) and knowledge of the guides (great history on Machu Pichu and the surrounding area). I felt safe and in good hands. They helped my friend and I when we experienced altitude sickness and went above and beyond to help me bring home a special souvenir from Peru - a puppy! This was a trip of a lifetime for me. You cannot go wrong with Alpaca Expeditions. Book now!
