Owner description: This is the most popular tour that we offer and there is good reason for it. When this tour was created, it was with the adventure seekers in mind. This tour is kind of like the Inka Trail ‘revamped’, but with the same pay off at the end: The glorious Lost City of the Inkas.

Myself and my boyfriend did the 3night/4day inka jungle trail during end of Maystart of June. It was the highlight of our South America trip! On Day 1 we did mountain biking and white water rafting, Day 2 some intense hiking, Day 3 zip lining and hiking, and finally day 4 made it to Machu Pichu! Each day was unique and thoroughly enjoyable! Wilian was our tour guide and was absolutely amazing! He was one of the best tour guides we have come across due to his knowledge, passion for the inka culture and his country, and his general care and kindness for the whole group! The trip would not have been the same without him! We would highly recommend this trip and be sure to ask for Wilian as your guide!

I had an excellent experience with Lorenzo Expeditions and the Jungle Trek with our host Wilbert Santa Cruz. Wilbert was informative, passionate and good-humoured throughout (in several languages!) and even dealt well with several (unrelated to the Trek!) unforeseen and unfortunate circumstances that befell some of my fellow trekkers. The accommodation, catering and quality of the extra activities was far better than in equivalent tours and, of course, visiting Machu Picchu was an unforgettable experience. I would recommend Lorenzo to anyone interested in visiting Machu Picchu.

I can’t rate Lorenzo Expeditions highly enough! I was so nervous about choosing a company to do this trek with, as I wanted our trip to be perfect. Well, it was! Thank you to our guide, Dorian, for making it so memorable.

Throughout the trip, it felt like we got special treatment compared with other tour groups, and nothing was too much trouble. We stayed in private rooms in nice hostels (hotels?) and the food was AMAZING! I’m vegetarian and expected to struggle, but nope! Four course lunches and dinners, giving us plenty of fuel for all the activities:

Day 1 - downhill biking and white water rafting
The biking was awesome! We were given full safety gear and cruised downhill for several hours, stopping to admire incredible views on the way. When we arrived at Santa Maria, it was straight on to the rafting. So much fun! We went through loads of rapids and then stopped to jump into the river from the rocks. Dorian had towels ready for us - legend!

Day 2 - hiking and hot springs
Today was a tough one! We hiked 23k through the jungle, but we’re not complaining! Dorian stopped loads along the way to show us plants, animals and other cool things. We stopped off at a few houses to learn about coffee and chocolate production, and try tasty Peruvian snacks. Lunch stop and a quick rest in some hammocks, then on to Santa Teresa! After crossing the river in the cable car, we reached the hot springs - amazing after a long day of walking!

Day 3 - zip line and hiking
Do the zip line! It’s so fun and feels like flying - there’s no sudden drop, which I thought there would be. We did 6 zip lines, climbed a waterfall and walked across a wobbly rope bridge. After that, we hiked from the hydroelectric plant to Aguas Calientes. Great walk and we spotted our first sighting of Machu Picchu way up on the mountain top. We had a lovely meal that night, ready for the big day!

Day 4 - Machu Picchu
We got up at 3am (you don’t have to do that!) and got to the bridge for 4.30 - we wanted to get a good spot for when it opens at 5. Then we hiked up the 1,500 steps in the dark to reach Machu Picchu! (Again, you don’t have to do that!)
We got inside as soon as it opened at 6am and got incredible views before anyone was in the ruins. The tour was great - we’d learned loads about the Incas and Machu Picchu along the trek, so it was awesome to see it for ourselves.

Anyway, I’ve rambled on enough! Thank you SO much Dorian for an amazing experience and for getting rid of all of my worries about the trip. We loved every minute!

I really did my homework before booking, read every review.. (probably like you are now,) so that our family of 5 would have an exciting, safe and memorable adventure. The 3D/2n Inca jungle tour with Lorenzo was one of the best things we have done as a family. Their attention to detail is incredible. From the booking, pre departure talk to start, all questions are welcome and no request too great! In reviews I kept reading about a guide “William,” so I was hoping we got him... and WE DID! We began by mountain biking from 4200 metres down to 2500... so much fun! It’s all downhill so anyone can do it. Then we went whitewater rafting, which was hilarious... the guides were so funny. We loved the beautiful hot pools and the zip lining was exhilarating, again the guides were so safe. We saw stunning scenery and wildlife..Our Machu Picchu experience was perfect, especially as William got us up there before the main crowds. What really made our trip special was William, his enthusiasm, love for history, his people and country absolutely made our trip unforgettable. He went the extra mile for us on so many occasions, from helping with medicine to organising a surprise at the hotel! Lorenzo, you are lucky to have him! We will never forget our amazing last meal with him in Aquas Calientas. This truly is an amazing, fun filled journey, seeing beautiful things and meeting great people.
