We stayed here twice during our recent Peruvian vacation. We normally don't go for "chain" properties but found this online and it looked right up our alley and was priced right so gave it a chance. Well, this is one beautiful property. A spectacular historic renovation designed with sleek, modern interior finishes. No trace of a "chain" here. The staff were above wonderful. Every staff person we encountered couldn't have been better from the front desk to the dining staff. My luggage was lost on the way by LAN and as I do not speak Spanish I asked the concierge for help in contacting them for the follow up. LAN required a new form be completed online and I could never have done it without the help of the concierge. The concierge desk continued to follow up with LAN until the luggage was returned to me. Wonderful service. We dined in the restaurant on one occasion and the food was superb. The breakfasts were the best we had on our trip. And, the hotel location was perfect, close to everything and we could even walk to the main rail station for our trip to Machu Picchu. My only disappointment was on our first visit we had booked a room with a terrace. No issues with that and the terrace was lovely; however, the hotel was preparing for a large event in the courtyard and was installing a major tent over the full courtyard so there was loud construction for all three days we were there which made the terrace impossible to use. While I understand the need to prepare for the courtyard event, the hotel should really have refunded the extra terrace room charge as it was really a waste of money. Other than that though I really recommend this property. It is a much better value than the other 5 star properties in Cuzco and I wouldn't stay elsewhere.
