“Excellent value for money”
Reviewed January 2, 2014

We stayed at the Marriot for three nights while we stayed in Cusco. It really is a beautiful property - not a bog standard hotel at all. It was slightly cheaper than others we stayed in in Peru and it was great value for money. The waiters at breakfast were so friendly and helpful pointing out the best places to go and their favourite places to eat.

The rooms are nice. The courtyard is beautiful and I imagine great in the summer. Breakfast is good with a buffet and eggs station and everything else you can imagine. There is a nice pool and sauna and steam room but the jacuzzi is small so if it's busy there isnt much space - however it isnt a 'spa hotel' so this is just an added extra anyway so didnt bother us at all.

The location is so central - you can walk everywhere in town from it so it really is the perfect base and fantastic value for money

Dear guets

I am really glad for you sharing your comments at the Trip Advisor website. While reading your punctual but enthusiastic report I felt really proud for the service we deliver and the team I work with as you mention they are very cordial and I would say eager to serve.

Thank you for mentioning some of the property services like the oxygen supply; which is pump directly to the rooms and helps to ease the high altitude symptoms in 900 meters. Also there are some other tips we recommend like having a light meal on your first day in the city, keeping yourself hydrated, coca and muña tea are really good for adjusting to the high and helping with the digestion and of course lemon candies are also good. We feel proud for guarding part of the historical past of the city and we love hearing words like yours that enjoyed our afternoon sites. Also thank you for mentioning our tasty food but most of all for choosing us in this wonderful city.

We look forward to welcome you back at the JW Marriott Cusco!

Sincerely,

I have stayed in many high end hotels and am a self proclaimed hotel snob and this hotel exceeded most of my expectations. It's the location, the beautiful old and new architecture, it's the food but mostly it's the service that sets this hotel apart. We got a flavor of the service prior to our arrival, they helped us secure our Peru rail tickets to Macchu Picchu. Sent them a money order from US and they bought our tickets in person - Check. My husband is a lifetime platinum with Marriott so given his status he gets perks in many of these hotels but this one is a class apart, people remember your name, your food preferences and all the other details. The hotel is converted from an old monestary and is only a year old and it's like walking into a gallery with artifacts. We eat dinner, lunch and breakfast and it was all great.. My son wanted to try the cuy (guinea pig) and it was prepared to perfection. For my brithday they had a beautiful sliced cake and they removed pits and chiled the chirimuya fruit that I got myself from the market once they realized I loved it. We used them to book travel to the sacred valley and it was great as well. I would stay in this hotel again in a heart beat. If you can afford it go for it, you will not regret the stay. Cusco is beautiful and the J.W. makes the experience even more spectacular.

By far, this is the best hotel the husband and I have ever stayed at. From the customer service, to the comfy rooms, the excellent continental breakfast and dinner, and finally - the bar - this was a top notch experience for us - without burning a hole in our pockets. Additionally, it is in such a great location - about two to three blocks from the main square. If you plan to visit Cusco - which is an amazing and charming city, by the way - I advise that you stay at the JW Marriott.

First off, I used to be a Platinum member with Marriott and switched to Starwood due to my overall dissatisfcation with Marriotts. However, if every Marriott was like the JW Marriott Cusco, I'd switch back to Marriott in a second! The JW Marriott Cusco is amazing-it blends in beautifully with the lovely city of Cusco and the architecture is extremely unique. We loved our room-while the rooms are a bit on the small side, the room was fully functional and extremely comfortable. We purchased a package for $50 / night that included breakfast, internet, and oxygen. I strongly believe that one of reasons we acclimated so well to the altitude was because of the in-room oxygen. The breakfast buffet was delicious to boot so this is definitely money well spent.

In addition the amazing environment at the hotel, the service is also first rate. Every staff member we encountered was professional, polite, and went out of his/her way to help. Stand outs include Milgrado (sp?) at the front desk and Miguel Angel-they made us feel welcome and were always extremely polite and helpful.

We also enjoyed the spa-this seems to be an under used amenity at the hotel, as it was empty both times we went. We enjoyed the hot tub, warm pool, and the steamroom and sauna.

Way to go JW Marriott Cusco! You are rocking it-probably one of my all time favorite hotels!

Side Note: They also have some awesome heavy duty umbrellas for those inevitable Cusco rain showers.

We stayed here only one night, but the property is loaded with charm, the service is excellent, and the food is outstanding. Don't be turned off by the JW Marriott brand if you're looking for something with a local touch--this is not a chain hotel transposed from the US but a converted monastery. Check out the main restaurant, even if only for lunch.

Beautiful hotel that is tastefully restored and renovated from a former convent. That painstaking process took six years to accomplish, as we learnt on a daily guided tour conducted by hotel staff. In the basement is a small museum housing artefacts uncovered during the restoration, as well as a room where visitors can see the building's tiered foundations exposed - evidence of three cultures that once occupied this space: Spanish, Inca and pre-Inca.

The hotel was very new (as of Sep 2013) and still trying to attract guests, which was how we scored an excellent rate from the hotel website. The indoor pool was really an unexpected luxury, but we particularly enjoyed the morning buffet breakfast. Highly recommended!
