I am writing this review as after reading the last 2 entries I was wondering if I was staying at the wrong hotel :). I have been travelling in Peru for 6 months now and needed a place that was quiet and nice for a break before heading into Bolivia. I searched high and low in Cusco with very little success unless I wanted to pay over $50 which I did not. I then came across this place through trip advisor and made a deal for 10 nights. I have a wonderful room with a great bed and hot water. This place is spotless. They are cleaning all the time. I went on trips to Machu and the Sacred Valley and always returned to a clean room and the quiet is priceless. Also when I went on the roof I discovered the VIEW. You can see the plaza and all the churches from this view point and not a bad place for a beer or glass of wine after walking around all day. Also my friends stayed in the matrimonial suite and had this view from there room.
They have also arranged taxis for me and my friends and told us the price range for the taxis so we were not cheated. I know they were fair as like I said I have been in Peru a long time. This hotel is great if you want some real peace and quiet for a night or more. I highly recommend it. As far as the stairs go if there to much grab a taxi for 5-7 soles but good conditioning for your trekking :).

Room Tip: The matrimonial suite if you are a couple :) 3rd floor

If you like rooms with smelly toilets, dry blood/pubes on the bed sheets and paint peeling off the walls, then Qorikilla is your place. Additionally, if you enjoy it when the receptionist tries to fleece you for $30 when you complain about the above and ask to leave, read on. According to the terms and conditions of our booking, if you want to cancel the reservation at short notice, you're obliged to pay for one night ($30). However, the receptionist wanted us to pay for two nights despite having the booking confirmation in front of him which stated otherwise. Not being able to speak Spanish, I did find the inevitable confrontation between my girlfriend and the receptionist highly amusing. Spanish arguments need to be televised ASAP.

That said, the view from out room overlooks Cusco city and makes for an excellent photo opportunity. Walking back up the seemingly neverending set of steps to the hostel when your rear end resembles that back of the batmobile and you're suffering from altitude sickness is not so pleasant. Some taxi drivers even refused to take us there at night, saying it was too far from the plaza! I must admit that the courtesy lift from the bus terminal was much appreciated though.

It is really a shame that I have to write a bad review forthis cozy hostel. We stayed there for 5 nights, left our luggage there, when we went to Machu Picchu, came back for one more night and everything worked wonderful. We even told our friends to stay there because they were so nice and friendly. The rooms were small but nice and we had a wonderful view overlooking Cuzco. It is a 10 minutes walk to the City centre and to come back it goes steep uphill. The breakfast could have been a bit richer, but we are already used the south american way of breakfast.
But what happened when we left was incredible! The recepcionist organized a transport by car to the train station for MP and back and told us that this guy could also get us bus tickets to Arequipa.
We told this guy that we needed 4 tickets to Arequipa and that we wanted to travel with Cruz del Sur as we heard that this would be the best bus company. He told us it was 140 Pesos per person (ca. 50 US$) and that was the price indicated on the homepage. We gave him the money.
On the travelling day he came to the hotelroom in the morning and told us, that Cruz del Sur had a technical problem with the bus and that he could get us tickets for another company, Oltursa, with the same standards. This would be 10 Pesos less per person. As we did not know, what else to do, we believed him and agreed. Later we checked the website of Oltursa and found out, that the price was 90 Pesos per person! We went down to Hugo, the recepcionist and told him about the issue. Hugo called Norberto (?), the guy and spoke to him. Than he told us, that the price on the homepage was not correct, but we would get 20 Pesos per person back.
We should have been picked up by Norberto in front of the hotel. But instead, Hugo told us to walk down the street, that he was waiting down there. Strange, isn't it? We did so and found a tiny little taxi (for 4 persons plus 4 big and 4 small backpacks!) although Norberto told us the day before he would come with a big car! There was a woman handing out the bus tickets and 80 Pesos.
As it was dark, we did not check the bus tickets and went to the bus terminal. And then we saw on the tickets, they were worth 90 Pesos each! So Norberto and probably Hugo as well earned 30 Pesos per person!
It is really sad, that the hostel is working with people like this. We were really happy staying there and also left a generous tip at check out. But obviously they are involved, otherwise Hugo could have helped, paying the right prices! I would not recommend to stay there, although we had a lovely stay....

The staff was very polite and helpful, the rooms were clean, airport-hotel transfer was perfect, hot water streem was ok. The hotel works with a reliable travel agent, who perfectly organized our trips. The rooms with the window to the street are a little bit loud at night. We recomend it :-)

Room Tip: If you want to prolong your stay, book it online, the prices are cheaper then directly in the hotel.

Pros:
The hotel was very clean and rooms were comfortable. They stored our bags for us while we were on the Inca Trail until we came back. We got the map and laundry service. They spoke politely although only the manager could speak English.
Cons:
1. Although hostel is located not far from the center, you have to climb up to the hotel by very steep way. We took a taxi every time we returned to the hostel.
2. The street was narrow and the minibus, which we ordered couldn’t enter the street. We had to upstairs with our luggage up to the wide street.
3. Rooms were very small, there was no place for our luggage. No balconies as it was promised and the view was on the street.
4. It was noisy in the night. In the early morning, 4:45 I was waked up, without any ask for it.
5. Problems with a hot water. It is impossible to get a hot shower simultaneously in several rooms.
6. There were no heaters in the rooms.
7. We cannot use wireless internet access in rooms, WiFi was absolutely not sufficient.
8. When we arrived, we asked for the cab from the airport to the hotel. They charged us triple the price.
9. The guestrooms at Hostal Qorikilla do not include coffee/tea makers, as it was promised.
10. The very old and small TV did not work at all. The floor lamp was without lamp.
11. The windows to the street were dirty as though they have not been cleaned for years.
I do not recommend this hotel especially for groups of people.

Estimado Sr. Gorelik

Good service. Clean and comfortable room. Good Wifi connection.

Shower water not strong and warm enough. Location not too close to Centro and should take taxi to reach there.

But for that room charges, it's worthwhile

I spent here 1 night and everything was alright. 3 people are at the reception on different shifts: 2 of them were friendly and 1 of them was looking always suspicious on everything and not really friendly. Breakfast is ok and included . It's on the rooftop and somehow you get a view of the city. Rooms are essential and comfortable/clean enough. Location is ok but due to altitude may be a bit far to climb up to the hill where the hotel is located (not a long distance, it's just matter of the effects of walking at over 3000mt above the sea level). I would recommend it but I'm sure you can also find better in town at this price or similar.
