During our stay at the Green House, we visited La Chomba twice, based upon the recommendation of the Green House owners. We were amazed once we arrived to La Chomba, since it's unexpected in Huaran. The staff was incredibly helpful in explaining the menu. Both lunches, I had the alpaca, while my husband had the trout. Throughout the meal, the service was outstanding. The food is extremely well-prepared and reasonably priced. The location, over-looking the river was relaxing.

La Chomba is one of those unexpected surprises you are happy to get. There are many "menu" places in Cusco, cheap house style food but usually in very small portions.
La Chomba serves big plates, delicious traditional cusquenian dishes, and it is great to see the mix of foreigns and locals all enjoying the experience.
I do recommend the cuy and the chicharron de cerdo. Try it with chicha morada or frutillada.

Our Hostal lady at the front desk recommended La Chomba for typical peruvean fare. We were quite doubtful when we peaked into the disheveled courtyard. One view into the restaurant's corner of the courtyard entry and we knew we were in the right place. Crammed pack and humming with locals' energy. It appears to be the place to get chicha - the peruvean non alcoholic drink you have to try. Menus are two chalkboards on the wall and it appeared only two guys running their tails off but our guy was on top of it all! Service was great. Very typical food - we had baked cuy... Yum but a little graphic whole. Also typical. Be prepared to sit with locals (bench style) and them talk about you but roll with it and enjoy the great experience and food.

La Choma is a typical "picanteria'- local eatery open for lunch.
It offers ample seating on benches by large table, locals go there in big numbers.
Huge plates of rice, potatoes and meat of your choice will satisfy even the biggest hunger, Tasty and typical- not to be missed
