Shhh! I don't want a load of tourists swamping the place out so I can't get a table. Andean cuisine, a lovely terrace ambience ... stay away!

Thank John T

Once in Cuzco, you will soon realize all food you can find around Plaza de Armas is more or less the same you can eat back home, only not so well prepared and quite a bit overpriced.

I found this restaurant after asking locals where THEY used to go when they wanted to have a family lunch on weekends, and I really enjoyed the experience. If you are picky about food you might not like it, but for those who like to experience the new, this restaurant can be fantastic.

The atmosphere is simple but pleasant - looks like some sort of Mexican villa. Waiters speak spanish only, but they are helpful and do their best to explain what mean those names on the menu.

Food is typical Peruvian countryside , which is simple, rich and tasty. The vegetables are incredible and the variety of cereals you will not be able to find anywhere else is amazing. Do not miss "choclo", the giant sweet corn, either it be with cheese or along some of the roasted meats.

As for the drinks, I would highly recommend "chicha morada" - always the fresh version, never the bottled ones. It is a kind of juice made of purple corn, lemon, pineapple and cinammon, and it is delicious. I feel like I could cross the Andes on foot just to have another glass :)
