“Magical!”

This is the most beautiful hostel I've been to. It's like a really small village with all the rooms around the outside area. The only downside is the cold! You have to hear your room with a small fire and you better have warm clothes if you wanna hang out! One thing they don't tell you thought, the price is cheaper if you reserve by hostelworld!
Also, all the profits go to a free school for children, where you can volonteer.

my first ever review on trip advisor, so motivated am i to say how happy i was with finding hostal magico. it really is a bit magic, one of the cheapest around, wonderfully homely, tucked away from the central bustle, some of the friendliest and most helpful staff and unanimously lovely clientele too. room was unique with lovely big beds. enough said.

This place is really special. From the decor to the personnel, the hostel clearly makes and effort and succeeds to communicate a warmth and sense of fun. Whether you stay here for a few days or many months, there will be a homely yet vibrant atmosphere to envelop you. The beds are comfy, the tv room, computers, kitchen and bathroom all decent, and the lovely little garden is a sunny, quiet haven. On top of all this, you know you're contributing to a good cause just by staying here, as the hostel is linked to the 'aldea yanapay' charity, in which you might also be able to get involved. A definitely preferable alternative to the touristy chain hostels...

As many of the people who stay here also volunteer in the school affiliated with it there is a wonderful sense of community and the communal areas are always friendly and welcoming. There is free internet access, hot showers and a variety of rooms for every budget and circumstance. The staff are helpful and hospitable and the equipped kitchen means there is the option of cooking your own food if you don't want to make the walk into town. All proceeds, along with the Yanapay restaurant, go to the school, so you're even doing your bit for the area.

I had a great long stay at Hostal Magico. With both friendly guests and staff it was a really enjoyable place to stay and it will also benefit their local school project (which I recommend you check out if you have the time). You won't find another hostal decorated in such a beautiful way anywhere else in Cusco, you'll have all the basics that you need and the company around you will make for an unforgettable time. Enjoy!

Staying at the hostal magico was one of my highlights in my trip to Cuzco. Other than supporting a great cause (all profits go straight towards helping a children´s charity), I found the place itself a really rewarding experience....I met some awesome people, and the rooms were soooo comfortable. I stayed in both a dorm room as well as a private and felt totally at home in both. Great atmosphere, the staff is so friendly and really knowledgeable about Cusco and its tourist attractions. And I was so happy to finally find a HOT shower. The open kitchen and close proximity to the market makes dining both cheap and enjoyable, and the free wifi and internet as well as the cozy TV/living room is a plus as well. Overall an amazing experience and I would gladly go back! Highly reccommended to all travelers :)
