Great value for money. We took the advice of another reviewer and booked a superior room, which was worth the extra money. Comfortable beds, with cosy blankets which we needed, along with a heater. Powerful shower, with hot water, but one small irritation was the slow drain of water. Great staff, excellent buffet breakfast and very good location. Will always be my home in lovely Cusco.

We stayed here for four nights in Cusco. Emailed hotel for pick up from train from Puno. Driver there and waiting even when we arrived 45 minutes late. Hotel had room all set for us. However, the room (107) had a stone wall in it and it backed up to an empty lot. With the rain, there was a smell that can through the wall. We contacted the front desk in the morning and were moved immediately to 202. We were told the hotel director will be notified of the issue. There was some work being done in the courtyard when we arrived. This caused our view to be of a large tarp. Was told it would be taken down in two days and they kept their word. Would have been nice to have known this prior to arrival. Nice walk to Plaza de Armes. Never felt unsafe to walk at night. Stayed in 3 Tierra Viva hotels during our trip and will stay again.

We stayed 3 nights at Tierra Viva Saphi. We travelled in Peru for 2 weeks and this was our best experience. We had a lovely airy room with a nice bathroom, the breakfast was wonderful with plenty of both Western and Peruvian options. Location was in a quiet street. But what we recommend the most were the staff. Particular thanks to Flor and Santos, they were the most welcoming, helpful and friendly people. Flor called a doctor for us at 1 AM when my husband really felt the altitude sickness, booked us taxis, takeaway meals from nearby restaurant, gave us discount vouchers for alpaca shops in Lima. We have watched her deal patiently and graciously with two groups of difficult customers one after another. She and Santos really deserve a special thanks and made our experience of Cusco excellent and memorable.

Room Tip: The top floor was the best.

A perfect spot to stay in Cuzco. Close enough to the plaza to walk, but far enough away for a peaceful night's sleep. We stayed here for three nights before heading to Machu Pichu and then again for another night before heading to Lima and home. We checked our bags here and took only our backpacks to Machu Pichu. The staff arranged our taxis for the airport and the train station and let us know the local rate so we weren't overcharged. We loved being able to relax in the courtyard and our rooms, including the bathroom, were spacious and clean. My only suggestion would be to remove the carpet and replace it with tile. Much more authentic and easier to clean.

My wife and I are in our late 60s travelling alone without the assistance of an established tour. Sometimes we win and sometimes we lose when selecting hotels over the internet. Tierra Viva Cusco Saphi was clearly a win. We spent the night there before taking the train to Aguas Calientes. We spent the night at Aquas Calientes and then returned to Tierra Viva. The great staff at Tierra Viva took care of all ground transportation arrangement to the train station and stored our heavy bags between the two stays. I cannot say enough about the staff, in particular Miguel Saauarda and Guido Cortez. Their English was excellent and their attentiveness was over the top.

An earlier reviewer was disappointed with the claustrophobic rooms and dining room. Perhaps it was a bit claustrophic but that is because the walls are about 2 feet thick of what appears to be actual Inka construction. To me it added to the charm.

If you have some time in Cusco, do not miss the large open market near the Plaza San Francisco. It will be one of the highlights of your trip. Stop at the fruit venders, who prepare your fruit right there, and try some cheriemoya. You can't get this fruit in the U.S.

We stayed here for two nights after traveling to sacred valley and Machu Picchu. This is a very nice hotel and there are wonderful, caring people who work here. We stayed at the Tierra Viva Miraflores in Lima and liked it so much we booked here. We were very happy with our choice. It is a romantic kind of place. Awesome value. To be honest, there is another Tierra Viva hotel in Cusco which might be just a little bit closer to the main city square and which might be just a little bit more convenient but I have no hesitation recommending the Saphi and would certainly consider staying here again.

Staff and location seem great, but the room I was given was dark and pokey, a bit like sleeping in a coffin, and in what felt like an basement area at level one. There are clearly much nicer rooms so was left wondering why I'd been given this one. Maybe because I was a solo woman traveller?
