Most of the other reviews will talk about the great location and useful amenities, I'll just mention our positive experiences with this hotel. We had a very difficult flight into Cusco, leaving Dulles at 2:00pm on Monday, and arriving at Cusco at 6:00am Tuesday. The great thing is when we arrived, we were able to get into our room right away and take a nap. While you can't guarantee that they will be able to have a room available at that time in the morning, it is nice to know that when it is in their power, they will what is necessary to help you out.

We booked the hotel based on the previous reviews and its central location in Cusco. The hotel is located up a short hill about 3 minutes walk from Plaza de Armaz. There are lots of restaurants in nearby streets and the Plaza. The reception floor is on the top of the hotel and the majority of rooms are on lower floors.

On our arrival shortly after noon, the room was ready we were shown to room 401, which is on the top floor, next to reception and it had excellent views over the rooftops of Cusco. We had chosen a Superior room and it was well appointed with a fridge, with some complimentary drinks . The bed was huge and very comfortable and we had a jacuzzi bath in the spacious bathroom. The shower had great pressure and there was always plenty of hot water.

The breakfast buffet was taken downstairs and had a very good selection of cereals, fruits, breads, pastries, meats and cheese as well as some hot dishes. It was possible to get your breakfast from about 05:30 hrs which was useful if you are heading off to Machu Pichu.

The free WiFi was fast and reliable and Coca tea was available in a small lounge off reception. The staff were very helpful with advice about the local area, booking taxi's etc, and our bill was correct on departure.

Some reviews make mention of loud music noise from a nearby disco. We did experience this and it goes onto 05:00hrs, and maybe had we had a room lower down in the hotel, we might not have heard it, but we were so tired we slept very well, but if you are alight sleeper, you might find it an issue.

We would recommend staying at this hotel and I'm sure others in the group will be just as good.

Room Tip: Room 407 has a great view over the city rooftops, but can be a bit noisy at night

Great location, a very short walk to the main square. Great western breakfast. Very friendly staff, who will assist with any of your needs while in town. Very new and clean rooms, with all the mod cons. Clean modern and fully functioning bathrooms. Right price, and all round great value. Stop looking… stay here or the sister hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a balcony onto the back lane-way. the sound proof doors and thick curtains are f...

Cusco is a beautiful city with the centre being the Plaza De Armas, full of good restaurants and bars. This hotel is 50m from that square up a quiet side street. It is terrific. It has ambience, charm, and character, the rooms being centred round an internal courtyard. Coca tea is available for free all day, the staff as others have said are EXTREMELY helpful and friendly, nice breakfast included in the rate, beds are comfy and rooms are spotlessly clean. Computers and printers are available free of charge,a packed lunch will be put up for you if you are skipping breakfast as we did (5.30 pick up to go to Machu Picchu). I appreciate anyone can be unsure booking a hotel for the first time in a new town, but do go with this place as you will NOT be disappointed.

We stayed there for 3 nights. The staff was very friendly and helpfull.

This place is well situated to visit Plaza de Arma and its surroundings.

The included breakfast was also very nice (for the total price)!

I would sleep there again.

Very, very accommodating hotel/staff. All you need to know is (i) they will arrange a cab to wherever you would like to go in Sacred Valley (including to catch later trains to Macchu Picchu), (ii) will stash all your stuff while you head out to the SV/Inca Trail, and (iii) are extremely close to the main "sight" of Cusco. Could not have been happier with this hotel.

One thing for Management (did not impact our stay at all) - consider investing in a key card system. Noted some other travelers who weren't able to get into their hotel room b/c the previous occupant had inadvertently taken the key with him.

This is the first of the two Tierra viva hotels that we booked (the other in Arequipa) and we find it to be a great place to stay. We were a bit worried about noise as read on some TA but our superior room was quiet and elegantly furnished (rm 303). The service was very thoughtful and tentative. A fridge filled with complimentary coke and beer is a good example. The location is great and is only one minute walk to plaza de armas, and the hotel courtyard is great place to sit down for a coca tea and a read.
The only issue we had was with the lady behind the reception. We stayed 3 nights before going to machu pichu for two days, and to come back for an additional night. We asked for a pick up from the train station rather than the airport but was not informed of the additional cost. The staff that we spoke to about the pick up apologized sincerely later and it really was a innocent mistake especially when it was very late at night when we made the enquiry. We were therefore a bit surprised about the taxi fare. However, we were even more surprised how defensive the reception lady was when we tried to explain to her that this cost should have been disclosed when the pick up is arranged. It is only a small taxi fare but I felt her way of managing this small issue is unprofessional and out in keeping with this great hotel.
