Description: Our kitchen offers both tradtional and avant garde cuisine, always focusing on rediscovering age-old recipes that allow us to take yesterday's flavors to today's table. Our specialty is Criolle and Andean cuisine where we highlight the essence of this beautiful mix of varieties that provides us with an endless array of flavors and that each Peruvian carries in their veins. In appreciation for all products we utilize we allow ourselves to play with new flavors and sensations based on the immense diversity of native products available: aji (Peruvian chili pepper), distinct passion fruits, avocados, rice and corn varieties are some of our favorites to explore with. Slow cooking dishes and the high flames of our grill are our favorite preparation techniques to use here at Marcelo Batata.

“first try at alpaca”
Reviewed July 7, 2014

We went to this restaurant based on the recommendation of our tour guide and reviews on trip advisor. Getting seated without reservations was no problem as we tend to eat early( 6-6:30).
Once we were seated however the ensuing parties without reservations were turned away. We had the alpaca steaks prepared with three different sauces. Each was tender and very flavorful.
The pisco sours were cool and refreshing. We also tried the cuy (guinea pig) as an appetizer.
We're all glad that we didn't order it as an entire meal. It was kind of tough and didn't appeal to us.

“Delicious variety.”
Reviewed July 6, 2014 via mobile

First we went to Uchu and dined on alpaca steaks and as we were paying, we were handed a 20% off coupon for this restaurant. Same owners, different menu but great food. So good we returned our last night after trekking to try cuy. Everything from soups, salads and entrees were delicious. Coupon turned out to be difficult and wait staff had a bit if an attitude but manager was great. I highly recommend!
