Description: Our kitchen offers both tradtional and avant garde cuisine, always focusing on rediscovering age-old recipes that allow us to take yesterday's flavors to today's table. Our specialty is Criolle and Andean cuisine where we highlight the essence of this beautiful mix of varieties that provides us with an endless array of flavors and that each Peruvian carries in their veins. In appreciation for all products we utilize we allow ourselves to play with new flavors and sensations based on the immense diversity of native products available: aji (Peruvian chili pepper), distinct passion fruits, avocados, rice and corn varieties are some of our favorites to explore with. Slow cooking dishes and the high flames of our grill are our favorite preparation techniques to use here at Marcelo Batata.

We started with a quinoa and veggie soup which was delicious followed for a sample of andean potatoes and salsas which were tasty but few. My wife tried a non traditional "causa", which was superb, and the rest of the family had the traditional "ceviche" and "saltado" y "anticucho" made then with alpaca meat.

One of the beat restaurants I've ever been in! Food is incredible (juices are also totally recommended). Ask for a table in the rooftop, the view is amazing.

You won't want to miss this restaurant. Erick the chef is from Peru, but is married to a woman from Ohio, and his food is truly outstanding. He also runs a cooking school that I highly recommend.

I love the way the Peruvians eat, with the exception of guinea pig and alpaca-both of which I would prefer to think of as pets. If you choose to try these local favorites, you probably won't be disappointed since every plate we tried was inventive, fresh and delicious. You can view the entire kitchen if you want to learn some of their methods. Each of the small dining rooms has an eclectic and vibrant feel. The rooftop bar is especially nice and a great place to unwind while checking out the views.
