Description: Our kitchen offers both tradtional and avant garde cuisine, always focusing on rediscovering age-old recipes that allow us to take yesterday's flavors to today's table. Our specialty is Criolle and Andean cuisine where we highlight the essence of this beautiful mix of varieties that provides us with an endless array of flavors and that each Peruvian carries in their veins. In appreciation for all products we utilize we allow ourselves to play with new flavors and sensations based on the immense diversity of native products available: aji (Peruvian chili pepper), distinct passion fruits, avocados, rice and corn varieties are some of our favorites to explore with. Slow cooking dishes and the high flames of our grill are our favorite preparation techniques to use here at Marcelo Batata.

“Great place to eat Alpaca for the first time. You will love it.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 11, 2012 via mobile

We went for dinner, started with drinks. Two different kind of cocktails with pisco, they were refreshing and really good. The chips they serve before the meal are great! They just need a little bit of salt. We had two different appetizers both with shrimp. One was a causa and the other was over a bed of avocado and a sweet sauce. For the main dish we shared the alpaca los andes. It was tender and juicy. It came with a red wine quinua side , it was awesome!! Great alpaca dish for first timers. We loved all the food and defenitley would go back. There is a terrace on the top with a beautoful view if you want to eat outside.

“Thought it was great”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 9, 2012

This restaurant was recommended by my hotel and I decided to give it a try with my group of friends. I had patatas rellenas with chicken and thought that they were delicious. The service was great and they recommended a drink from the bar made with pisco infused with cinnamon and cloves that was really nice. Highly recommended.

“Not as good as it thinks”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 8, 2012 via mobile

Food was nice, but service lacking & indifferent. We were sat at a table by the roof terrace entrance so got cold drafts throughout, despite tables in the main restaurant being available. Having eaten at uchu the night before, it was lacking in comparison- save your money & go there instead.

“Loved the food here”

Cool restaurant with an interesting menu. Go for the local speciality of Apaca as it was great, especially with the local herb and cheese sauce which I had. Loved this place.

“I had the Alpaca Saltada and loved it!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012 via mobile

We headed to Marcelo Batata our first night in Cusco. With all the talk around alpaca, I had to give it a try, and once I did... I was pleasantly surprised. Alpaca tastes like a cross between lamb and beef -- very tender, not gamey or wild tasting. Overall, the dish was well seasoned and sautéed with tomato, onion, red/yellow bell peppers, cilantro and garlic. The staff was friendly, service was prompt and our tummies were satisfied! Check out the terrace for a beautiful view of Cusco before you leave. This a great place to try for an introduction to Peruvian food.
