Just returned from 3 nights at Aranwa Cusco with wife and 2 youg children (1 and 3). Was not sure about booking this hotel since they have only been open a couple of weeks.
The hotel design is fantastic. They took an old colonial home and renovated it into a hotel that still has that home like feel, abit a very nice one. Our room was large, with probably 15 foot ceilings, large balcony, oversized jetted tub, heated bathroom floors, etc.
The syle may not appeal to all, think chandaliers, silver look painted doors/furnishings, elaborate drappery...but they pull it off with style.
I was able to see several of the rooms and want to warn you that room size variers dramatically. My room was classified as deluxe (1 step up from base room). Suggest you consider upgrade from base room as cost differential was modest.
The hotel is still in start up mode and it shows. I could give the breakfast chef a few pointers and I am a terrible cook. Called front desk 3 times to try to get a box of tissues, resulting in a stack of dinner napkins after 3rd attempt. Room service tried to enter room at 6 am to make up room, without knocking first. But, the staff is very enthusiastic and their desire to please more than makes up for the start up issues.
Note spa is not yet open and they have no on site gym.
I know I listed a few negatives but still rated the hotel 5 stars. This is the best hotel I have stayed in in Peru and would stay there if it was located in New York or Paris. Truely world class.
