We did not realize that the rooms in this extremely beautiful, well-situated hotel are arranged facing inward. This means that the windows in most of the rooms face a hallway that rings the interior courtyards. We arrived in Cusco around 8pm and found that our room was not suitable for anyone with the least bit of claustrophobia. We would need a different room or we would have to change hotels.

We went back to the desk and were offered another room with the same problem. At that point, Franco Gotuzzo, the resident manager got involved. He personally showed us two rooms, both of which were in a higher category than our booking. We very happily settled into room 224, which features a window onto a small courtyard that is open to the sky and an extraordinary bathroom.

This is an elegant property with gracious furnishings and art, lots of hallways and seating areas to explore, and lovely courtyards. I would have been happy to stay longer.

If I were in the hotel business I would try to clone Mr. Gotuzzo. He was at all times gracious, thoughtful, and considerate. Somehow he made us feel reasonable the entire time we were complaining. Extraordinary.

Room Tip: Make sure that you understand how much light and air you need. Some of the rooms are not suitable fo...

I loved this little property located right off the main plaza in Cusco. The staff were lovely. The property was charming. The food and beverage rivaled food at most of the top restaurants in Cusco. They really work at making a great guest experience for each guest. They make the early departures to Machu Picchu easy with breakfast served from very early in the morning. It's a nice buffet and they cook eggs as you like them. They pump oxygen into your room to help with the high altitude issues, as well as continuously served coca tea. I am not sure that it helps, but you do needed to be hydrated.

Room Tip: The deluxe rooms with the spa baths and heated floors are great.

Dear Madame, Sir,
We really aprecciate your motivating words about the service, this is our fuel to keep on giving the best service we can give, and try every day to improve on this point.
Indeed we would like to make a difference in service, giving to customers real and genuine care and attention to their needs, specially on their health.
We like to create great travel expriences and that is our goal, also counting that traveling to Cusco is once or twice in a life time, we don´t want our guests have any trouble inside or outiside the Hotel and does not feel protected.
Again thank you from all the Hotel staff for this lovely comment.
Sincerely,
Franco Gotuzzo

We stayed in the Aranwa Hotel from 10/3/13-10/6/13 and from 10/7/13-10/8/13. When we arrived for the first portion of our stay, we were given a classic room on the third floor right by the elevator. I didn’t realize the majority of the rooms did not have windows facing the outside. Even though the room was very nice we did not like the location. The staff was very professional and accommodating. Unfortunately, they did not have a better location in the same category but offered us a discounted upgrade for $45.00 a night to a deluxe room. The deluxe room was wonderful. It was much larger, very tastefully decorated and had a super comfortable bed. We did not even notice the lack of a window because the ceiling was much higher and therefore the room looked more open. The bathroom had a huge jetted tub, heated floors and a towel warmer.
The second portion of our stay was in classic room on the second floor, again by the elevator but since it was just one night it was fine. The room was much smaller but again nicely decorated and super clean. The bathroom was smaller too but still had heated floors with a regular sized jetted tub. Majority of the rooms have a window facing the hallway but you have to keep the curtains drawn otherwise everyone walking by would be able to see in. This makes the rooms seem a bit more confined. I would definitely recommend a deluxe room or a suite over the classic rooms.
The hotel is beautiful with colonial artwork and furniture wherever you look. The courtyard is a great place to relax, have a drink or breakfast. The location is perfect, within a short walking distance of Plaza de Armas, restaurants and shopping.
The breakfast was superb, best selection we had in our 2-weeks stay in Peru. This is a truly unique property with excellent customer service, and I highly recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Cusco. The only thing I would recommend to the hotel management is to do a better job of advertising the lack of windows facing the street as this may be an issue for some travelers.

Dear Jana,
Thank you for your feedback about your stay in the Hotel.
All the information you gave us is very usefull for us to keep on improving our product as well as the service.
Indeed as you mentioned most of the rooms in the Hotel face our several courts, due to the fact that it is an XVI century mansion, and that unfortunatelly doesn´t give us the chance to make any modifications on the construction.
At the moment we are advertising this detail to all of our clients and the companies we work with and for that we would like to thank you too.
Again your opinion is very usefull to keep on improving the details that makes the difference on service and product.
Sincerely,
Franco Gotuzzo

The Aranwa is a small boutique hotel with a quirky charm with comfortable rooms an oxygen system and heated bathroom floors.

The service was excellent with the staff friendly and attentive.
They have free coca tea always on hand to help with altitude sickness (although we took Diamox and had no problems).

The hotel has an internet centre and free WIFI throughout.
The breakfast is good.

We enjoyed our stay here in this central well located hotel.

The only minor criticism is that checkout is at 9am which although wasn't really a problem for us is quite early for those with later transfers.

The Aranwa Cusco is simply the best choice for an upscale boutique hotel in Cusco. It is in an excellent location on a quiet street, but an easy walk to Plaza de Armas, Plaza de Regicijo and many restaurants. Staff was very attentive and friendly. The rooms are very spacious and offer such extras as piped-in oxygen, throw rugs, heated bathroom floor, towel heater. The check-in was the nicest we have ever had, with full explanation of the hotel in a beautiful sitting room, and cups of coca tea to help with the altitude adjustment. The building is a 16th century colonial mansion and the artwork is amazing. The breakfast was fabulous and something we looked forward to every morning. The hotel doesn't have many amenities like pool, spa or fitness centre but in Cusco you do a lot of walking up and down hills and get your exercise that way. Outstanding hotel in every way, and I can't imagine staying anywhere else when we return to Cusco.

A gorgeous hotel that was once a 16th century mansion, centrally located in Cusco. Beautifully appointed rooms with cozy details like throw rugs of llama fur, robes and slippers, large bathrooms with a towel heater, jacuzzi tub, etc. You are greeted at check in with cups of coca tea to help you acclimatize to the altitude. You can ask for more oxygen to be pumped into your room (in addition to the X-tra 10% they already circulate), but be aware that it is not humidified and is very drying. I highly recommend the hotel restaurant. They have a large hot breakfast buffet, but will also cook egg dished to order. The dinners were delicious, incorporating regional delicacies, fruits and vegetables. I enjoyed the Peruvian Criolla soup so much I asked the speak to the chef to get the recipe. Service throughout the hotel was very polite and friendly. I would love to visit their other properties in Peru.

Well located in downtown Cusco; close to restaurants, museums and attractions. Staff is helpful and rooms are spacious. Bathroom was huge. With both a shower and separate, large whirlpool tub, everyone can be pleased. There is an added bonus that perhaps should be advertised more. Our room had a control next to the thermostat which controls the addition of Oxygen into the room. The added oxygen will help to alleviate the effects of the high altitude (12,500 feet). Doesn't eliminate it, but it helps flatlanders like us!
