After seeing all the ruins in Machupicchu, and Saqsaywaman, all the cathedrals and beautiful architecture, eating everything in site and drinking liters and liters of Cusquena beer, my husband and I went home thinking "I know we should want to go somewhere new every year, but OH THE FOOD IN PERU. Particularly in the restaurant at the Aranwa. My husband had the lamb shish kababs, which he loved so much that he ordered another half way through dinner and finished both. I had the alpaca carpaccio which I ordered again the next day. Our waiter "Surgio" was 5 Michelan stars worth of perfectly hospitable service. We met the chef ( ) who gave me the recipe for the lamb kebabs and the quinoa that we tried. The rooms are beautiful. Heated bathroom tile and towel rack, comfortable bed, tons of down pillows and comforters. Do get the buffet breakfast, it's one of the few good ones.
Notes: I passed out twice due to altitude. Drink the coca tea (located all over the hotel) and take the free oxygen down at the lobby.
