“Perfect stay in Cusco, Peru”
Reviewed June 29, 2012

The Aranwa Cusco is a perfect hotel in every way. The staff is wonderful, very friendly and professional. The room was imaculate, spacious and comfortable. The bathroom was large with a great soaking tub, heated floor and great shower. There is a "pillow menu" to help you choose the perfect pillow for you.

The hotel is a little pricey compared to others in Cusco but the stay is fabulous. The complimentary breakfast is probably the best I have had at a hotel. Plenty of choices especially local/regional offerings prepared to perfection. Free WiFi is always a plus and it worked well.

The location is only a block or two from the main square and shopping. The hotel arranged taxis whenever we needed and they were always on time.

The hotel has a spa on site but we didn't have the time to use their services.

I will definitely stay there again when back in Cusco.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the back/service door. During the day the outside noise can be a little bo...

We had an amazing stay at the Aranwa during our honeymoon and prior to our trek to Machu Picchu. I would thoroughly recommend that you stay here if you are looing for a little bit of luxury before you embark upon the Inca Trail or explore the surroundings.

The friendliness of the staff, quality of the food and just general attention to detail is exceptional. You are right in the thick of things too, so everything you could wish for is just a short stroll away - and although we were lucky enough not to suffer with altitude sickness, this would certainly help those who do.

The hotel has tried very hard to make its guests comfortable. Perhaps they have tried too hard in our room with two large beds when they wouldn't really fit and two basins in the bathroom with no bench space and a shower to end all showers.

For all that the hotel was indeed comfortable. The service was very good and the food of high quality and well presented. It was also very close to the centre of the city which made excursions easy (if costly as we found a high quality jeweller).

Room Tip: Apparently some rooms were larger than ours. So, if you want twin beds, it would be worth enquiring...

We thoroughly enjoyed our three nights at Aranwa. I really only have good things to say about it. We had a superior deluxe room, which was quite large, had great beds and linens and a luxurious bathroom. Heated marble floors, a huge soaking tub for two and a high end Dutch shower system (which I will say, my husband liked, but I had a heck of a time figuring it out each day). I normally love natural light, but the lack of windows in the room wasn’t a big deal, and I frankly think it probably kept the street noise out. The internet worked pretty well in the room.

The location is great, about two blocks from the Plaza de Armas and 4-6 blocks from a section with really great restaurants (Baco, Le Soleil, La Bodega 138, etc.) I noted that Monasterio, Inkaterra and a couple other of the nicer hotels are closer to this restaurant area, but we actually liked seeing a little more on our way to dinners, etc. We felt perfectly safe walking to dinner each night. The San Blas area (which might technically be where these restaurants all were? I’m not sure) and the Coriquancha are within easy walking distance too.

Service was very good, both at breakfast and the front desk. They were happy to answer questions, etc. and their English was excellent. Breakfast was very good, with an egg station and lots of fresh fruit, breads, etc. The dining area is next to the courtyard, which was sunny and pretty (and when warm enough, you could dine there). Tea was always available. We did not eat dinner at the hotel, but the menu looked very good. They have a bar area but it was always deserted. Unlike at the Sumaq in Aqua Calientes that we had just stayed, I did not feel they tried to overcharge us for drinks. A beer in the mini bar was $6US, which I don’t think is terrible given the quality of the hotel.

We would definitely recommend this hotel. I feel it offered all the amenities of a full service/large hotel, but was definitely a boutique hotel. I booked it on Expedia and got a slight better rate than booking direct.

Aranwa exceeded our expectations. It was beautiful and in the perfect location. We are able to walk to many of the museums in the city, and there was an abundance of restaurants and shopping areas within blocks. The hotel staff members were very friendly and extremely accommodating. In addition to this hotel we stayed in Aranwa Sacred Valley and it was amazing as well. The breakfast buffet was delicious especially the french toast! I highly recommend this hotel.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here. Hotel is beautiful, and the staff is extremely friendly and attentive. Location is about two blocks from plaza de armas, so it is easy to walk everywhere but you are away from the crazyness of main square.

Rooms are very comfortable, great linens, and a really pretty spa like bathroom. There are three computers in business center with complimentary internet. Also, they helped arrange a car to Pisac, and transport to airport, which was very helpful and reasonably priced.

Breakfast is great - egg station with made to order eggs, and tons of fresh fruit and bread. Also 24 hour coca tea available which was helpful for altitude!

The hotel is beautifully restored, very pretty courtyard. I would definitely stay here again!

Room Tip: Our room with outside view also had a sun porch
