I was there in the middle of august, unfortunately only 1 night, as it was fully booked after we came back from machu picchu!
It is a nice, clean and comfortable hotel, the reception very friendly and helpful. after arrival we immediately got some mate de coca (tea from coca leaves because of the altitude) and they prepared our rooms (2) the rooms were big and comfy and clean.
I just have to complain about the missing window - we had our room in sort of a patio and therefore could not open or light the curtains, so it was dark and sticky in der room.

The Hotel is located near Plaza de Armas, what is really perfect for strolling around a bit!!

we spent two more nights in cusco, in the Torre Dorada Hotel, which is not located in the city center, so regarding the location, I would again take the maytaq wasin!!

Room Tip: somewhere upstairs! so first or second floor is better than ground floor (ragarding the windowproble...

I would not put anyone off staying at this small hotel in Cuzco, but it's stretching it to call it a boutique hotel. Rooms are standard 3* hotel, comfortable but not in any way exceptional in standard or decoration. Most seem to have no external windows, though that's not too much of a problem on short stays. Breakfast was fine. Hotel scores on its excellent location a short walk from the Plaza de Armas and excellent restaurants.

Stayed with friends before Inka trail hike. Staff was friendly and efficient . Clean rooms. Noisy- since it is right in the city , you can hear next door restaurant/ hotel noise. Bathroom not enough ventilations. Pillow was fine. Ed ok. Breakfast was ok. Nothing special, eggs, bread, toast ,fruits, avocado, tomato, margarine and marmalade . Location s perfect. Walking distance to everything you need, shopping areas, restaurants, banks. Just be prepared to walk, walk, walk. Warm during the day then the temperature deeps down by the afternoon. Bring some jacket .they stored our belonging for the hike.

Cusco is very nice, and this hotel is really central, 2 mins from the main square and the shops and restaurants. The staff were really friendly and the breakfasts excellent, including scrambled or fried eggs made to order, plus all the usual inc coca tea. However at over 3500m above sea level I needed much more fresh air coming into the room at night. Our first room's windows opened onto a small central space between the parts of the building, and our second room (after returning from Macchu Picchu) opened onto the landing! Other rooms (210 at least) have no window at all. Other reviewers have commented on the noise from the street but I would have happily traded noise for stuffiness as it was the breathing at night that I found hard at the altitude. That said, it's a very nice hotel, the staff could not have been more helpful, and it's certainly central to the action. There is a great view from the roof terrace on the third floor.

The location of this hotel is brilliant, it's always spotlessly clean and the staff are friendly and helpful. My only reasons for not giving it 'excellent' for everything are the limited wi-fi reception (when we stayed on the 2nd floor it was great, on the 3rd floor we had to walk round the room or go downstairs), no mirrors near a plug socket and it would have been such a bonus to have tea/coffee facilities on the room. These things wouldn't put me off staying there again though, it really is a great little hotel. I would definitely recommend.

First of all let me say that Maytaq is in a great location. It is literally round the corner from the main square/plaza, near tourist attractions and some of the best restaurants. This has one obvious drawback: the road outside the front is busy. In Cusco you cannot really get away from busy roads so this hasn't affected my rating. It is a one way street and it does get quieter at night.
Check in at the hotel was a smooth experience however the signage isnt massive so be careful you dont miss it! All hotels in Peru ask for your passport to make a photocopy, they keep this photocopy if your staying there again to save the hassle of going through the process. Most hotels like this also have a brief registration form.
Onto the hotel. On arrival, coca tea is provided to help with the altitude. I personally felt that drinking LOTS of water and Gatorade was better, but its good that the tea is provided throughout the day on the second and third floors. Also on the second floor are books and magazines along with comfortable seating. This complements the restaurant/bar on the ground floor. On the third floor is a rooftop terrace WITH AMAZING VIEWS, offered by none of the other hotels we looked at. Go there at night, its worth it!!!
The breakfast provided is perfectly adequete with eggs served to your liking. Like most peruvian hotels the array of fruit juices is delightful. Breakfast starts at around 5:30 to accomodate people going to Machu Piichu, the staff are flexible with this.
The rooms are of a good size, like I mentioned some face onto the road, also some have no outward facing windows, some windows face onto the terrace or onto the corridor on the second floor. We saw no-one having trouble with this as it is after all only a base for a few nights of a holiday (we stayed 5 nights in two short blocks). The bathrooms were also of a decent size with a powerful hot shower, all the usual complemetaries plus a pack of tissues (we found the altitude made our noses bleed) and also bottles of water (whilst the water is safe it has a strange mineral balance so we didnt want to be feeling bad because of it). The beds are comfortable with plenty of layers, good pillows and extra blankets. The heating is good (in dry season it is hot by day and frosty by night) and adjustable. the heating only switched on in the night time which was very sensible. Rooms were cleaned daily, and the televisions had offerings in lots of languages.
Overall, a very good hotel which caters for travellers of all types.

Room Tip: If you dont get a room on the third floor, VISIT THE TERRACE THE VIEW IS WORTH IT!!! You will be gla...

We stayed here before and after the Inca trail, and both times we had street facing bedroom,. the stay before we were woken early to sounds of car horns beeping! it did bother us at first as we were up and out early most mornings off sight seeing but after the trail we were hoping for a good night sleep but we were give a room that was over the reception area and outside a public area. We asked yo change rooms but the only one tat was aviable was our previous room whihc was just a noisy. they did give us a key to a ajoining room to ours but that was just as noisy and cold!

The staff tried there best and the rooms were clean, but i would have put a bit more thought into allocating the rooms for tired trail travellers!

The location was great and so was the food and to repeat my self the staff were helpful
