Ninos Hotel was lovely-the staff worked really hard to help with our stay.
The story behind Ninos is inspiring, and had the pleasure of being driven in
a cab by one of the original Ninos boys..
We had a nice room with a private bath - there was some "mold" on the
walls and ceiling, but it seems like it was not hotel wide, but a problem with
ventilation and steam in our room only. We had hot water for showers and
a very much needed heater to warm the room.
There are steep steps to get upstairs - choose a downstairs room if this is
difficult for you (though Peru is a tough trip if you can't walk stairs!)
Breakfast, not included, was consistently delicious. A little trek to the main area of Cusco, but not too bad.
After a couple of days it felt like home.

Nice room, very spacious. Ok Staff.

They do have hot water but I had a problem one day. My wife was taking a shower and later on when I was taking mine the water was not hot any more … actually almost cold. They must have a limited amount of hot water…

They also have wifi, but I couldn’t get it from inside my room. I had to go to the hallway to get it.

They have three different types of breakfast. You have to order it, as a menu, and they bring it to your table. I was satisfied with the 2nd one and it was 12 soles.

Neighborhood is very noisy (my room at least). The window was facing the street but just across it there was a mini market and a bar … so some folks were up until late at night talking and laughing. And also there were some dogs barking (but I believe this is an issue in Cusco, since I have seen lots of dogs all over the streets).

Considering the size of Cusco and quantity of different hotels in the way, I wouldn’t say it’s well Located … it is at exactly 10min (walking) from plaza de armas… Not THAT far, but from plaza de armas to the hotel you have to go uphill (it’s a light slope, but still it might be tiresome specially when you are tired in the end of the day and if you are not fit).

They take credit card but they charge you extra 6% for it. (that´s another issue in Peru, lots of places do not take credit card and does accepting it change you a fee that may vary from 6 to 10%. It is possible to barging that fee…)

I’ve stayied in Calle Fierro, It’s like Ninõs 2.

My cousins and I were on our way to Machu Picchu and had originally taken a room in another Cusco hotel. However, that hotel was having problems with water - there was none. We decided to try our luck at another hotel and found a Lonely Planet recommendation called Los Ninos on calle Meloc. The hotel not only has a great deal of charm and history, it is very well decorated. The bathroom was large and the water was hot! Plus the hotel is a short distance from the center of town. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants good service and a comfortable room. I would not hesitate to use them again.

Room Tip: There's not a bad room in the place, really.

We stayed at Ninos II, only a block away from the original Ninos hotel. It is a midrange hotel and therefore a little more expensive than the budget accommodation that we usually stay in. We found Cusco to be generally expensive as far as accommodation is concerned, so it wasn't much more than double rooms in budget options. We were pretty surprised at the excellent quality of the rooms and building in general given the small jump in price. We arrived at about 4.30am and were allowed to sit in the comfortable cafe until we could check in. The cafe serves excellent and well priced breakfasts. The room we were initially given was huge, but near the school that is housed in the same building, so therefore noisy during the day. As we were exhausted and needed to sleep we asked to move and were given an equally good room facing the main courtyard. When we came back from our trek we stayed in a different room again which was also beautiful and incredibly comfortable. It seems that all the rooms are a bit different in size and shape, but all beautifully decorated. Staying here really was like being in a hotel. The beds were excellent with clean, new-looking sheets. The showers were hot with good water pressure. If we were travelling on a huge budget we'd still choose to stay here over a 5 star hotel as it has a lot more character with comforts you'd expect from a much bigger hotel. We also had wifi in our room.

The only downside was that it was a little further out of town than other options, about 15 mins walk from the main square. This wasn't a problem for us as we'd rather be in a quiet location and a bit further out. We felt safe walking around at night.

The story behind the hotel is also inspiring, look it up!
