“A bit of luxury on a budget in Cusco”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 5, 2013

Located high up at the top of San Blas, Encantada is worth the effort to reach. We stayed here on our last night in Cusco- a little splurge after four days of hiking the Inca Trail. The hotel really is as nice as it looks in pictures, with rooms outfitted with modern decor and comfortable beds and clean bathroom. The view of Cusco from the top level balcony was gorgeous.

We were given pisco sours upon check in and the included breakfast buffet was incredibly good- the best we'd had in Peru.

I didn't have time to partake in spa activities, but my cousin said that both her massage and facial were really nice, and reasonably priced too.

Highly recommended.

My whole stay here was exceptional. Every member of the staff was extremely friendly, helpful and welcoming. The rooms were nice, but the breakfast was my favorite. The chef, Trini, is very talented and muy Bonita :) fresh fruits and juices, quinoa pancakes, juevos frittata con queso, me gusta mucho. Muchas Gracias, Had a great time, can't wait to come back...

Service-check, great room with a view-check, amazing food and complimentary breakfast-check, close to downtown-check. This place was amazing!! The staff was great, the rooms were clean and had a great view and the chef was very talented. We had a few desserts and they were very flavorful and the complimentary breakfast was better than some breakfasts we paid $30+ for. We stayed at another more popular hotel in the plaza the next night and it was more money and not as nice at all. We still talk about this hotel 6 months after our trip ended. WE will stay there again.

We stayed here during march 2013. The staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and my wife loved that they put a hot water bottle under the blankets each night to warm the bed. There is a bit of a walk up stairs coming back from the main square for about 15 mins so wouldn't recommend for the elder people if they are to visit the main square each day for eating and shopping. Some taxis also struggle to gain access to the hotel as the streets become narrow. Felt very safe at night with security guards walking up and down the streets not that I felt it was needed. Breakfast was ok.

We had a wonderful stay over Christmas 2012 at La Casa Encantada. The hotel is in San Blas, which is uphill from central Cusco and is (realistically) a 10-15 minute walk mostly uphill. We found it fine but someone not used to walking a lot and climbing stairs would be better off closer to central Cusco. The San Blas area is charming and relatively quiet and we appreciated the bit of distance from "downtown." There is a lovely terrace overlooking the city. The staff is terrific, very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is great. We found dinner at the hotel a bit wanting so unless you are exhausted and don't want to venture out, we suggest you look elsewhere. Also, the hotel is up a long flight of stairs from the street; a taxi will have to deposit you at least 1-2 blocks away; and there is no elevator, so if you are on the 3rd or 4th floor, be prepared to negotiate the lovely spiral staircase. On the whole, this is a wonderful place to stay if you are physically fit and looking for something "enchanted" but a bit set apart from the rest of the city.

Room Tip: If you're not a regular stair user, ask for a room on a lower floor. If you want very convenien...

Shortly after our arrival in Cusco, my husband began suffering severe altitude sickness. The hotel staff, Andres in particular, went above and beyond to assist him, providing among other things coca tea, oxygen, and an offer of a doctor on call if needed, so that by the next morning he was well enough to participate in our planned activities. The room itself was spotless, and we were treated every night to hot water bottles in our bed. Other extra touches included that our left luggage was waiting for us in our room when we returned to the hotel after several days from a Machu Picchu tour. Mattresses were exceptionally comfy, as were the soft bedding and pillows. Both 110 and 220 electrical outlets in the room to charge cameras, etc. Our room (312) had a balcony with beautiful views of the city (see photos). Coca tea, coffee, and free wi fi were all available 24/7. Breakfast was traditional Cusco - eggs made to order, bread and jam, cheese, ham, fresh local fruit juice and fresh fruits. The only down side is that in the San Blas area, the streets are exceptionally narrow, so buses picking us up or dropping you off from activities can't get up to the hotel (with a larger bus, it will be the Plaza de Armas, and several others have commented about the climb uphill from there to the hotel). The rooms are quiet, although you can hear hallway activity. We regret that we did not have time to check out the spa, but there is a great outdoor terrace on the 4th floor.

Room Tip: Rooms 212 and 312 are right in the front and have balconies with the great view. Photos below are t...

Really nice friendly hotel with great staff and a lovely spa. A perfect base for your Machu Picchu trail trek.

A bit of a walk uphill from the main plaza so be careful if you are not fit but worth the effort.
