We stayed here for two nights before and two nights after doing the Machu Picchu trek. It was a peaceful and relaxing place before we went up and a lovely wind down after. As it is in San Blas it is fairly central but beware of the climb from Plaza Armas to the hotel it is nearly at the top of the hill but if it wasn't you would not have the beautiful views over the city. The staff here are exceptionally helpful and caring (a special mention to the young ladies who run the reception area, Leidi?). On the return my partner got a tummy bug, not from this hotel, and I was overwhelmed by the concern from all the staff from the manager (owner?) to the porters.

The rooms are very nice, on our way out we had a room at the back which was good. On our return we had a room at the front with a tremendous view which was excellent but we would not have complained if we were in the same room as before. Avoid the rooms on the ground floor, they are very good but the trips to Machu Picchu involve people leaving very early in the morning (we left at 4am) and so it is hard not to be disturbed.

The chef is very good but it is a small restaurant area attached to the reception area and so I have marked it down for this reason.

A word of warning: you can get a taxi to the front door our first taxi driver insisted that it was not possible and so we ended up walking the length of Tandapata with all our luggage as we did not know better.

We would have stayed here for a few more days and we would stay here again, given the opportunity.

Room Tip: Ideally you want a room at the front with a view over the city. The rooms at the back are very nice as well, we stayed in both. Avoid the rooms on the ground floor as you may get woken up earlier than you would like (see review). The rooms with a view have a sliding patio style window on one side of the room and so are colder than the rooms at the back, the price you pay for the view.

This hotel was perfect. A beautiful, peaceful oasis right in the heart of San Blas in Cuzco. Unfortunately we were only able to stay one night. We got a great package on the hotel's Web site for a massage and stay in the jacuzzi suite room. The views from the balcony and gardens were gorgeous. The bed was comfy. The staff was above and beyond nice and accommodating. The massages were great. Probably my favorite hotel I stayed at in all of Peru.

Room Tip: Spa room is very nice if you can get a package. The room itself is small but that's because it's taken up by a giant jacuzzi. I did not see any other rooms.

Service was outstanding, very helpful and friendly. Location is slightly off the beaten track even if it is in the centre area ( San blas). Rooms are quite cold ( the manual heatingg it not strong enough). Food and breakfast is ok.

Room Tip: Ask for for rooms on level 4 or 3 if you do not want to hear breakfast or dinner folks .

This was an amazing hotel. I stayed here three nights and loved it. The gardens are beautiful. The rooms are clean and the view is spectacular. The decor was also beautiful and very charming. The location is super convenient. Service was amazing. The staff was eager to help at all times and asked if there was anything they could do. They picked us up from the airport. They helped arrange our transfer to the bus station for our excursion to Machu Picchu. The breakfast in the morning was delicious. I also stayed at an expensive hotel and I wish I hadn't. This was far less expensive and far better. What an amazing value. The Encantada was a little slice of heaven. So glad I found this place.

Room Tip: This was a slice of heaven, stay here if you are in cusco.
