In comparison to what one could end up with this place is not at the bottom of the list. That being said don't expect anything remotely modern or furnishings newer then the last 20 years. Our room was old...very old. We did have towels and toiletries like tiny soap bars, and the hotel did provide us with a small heater for the cold Cusco nights in July (heater looked like something from the 1970's). The bathrooms shower curtain was about two inches two short, causing water to splash all over the bathroom while the shower was on. I unhooked the curtain from every hook but the two end hooks to make the curtain sag in the middle. This did the trick. But the staff that changed the towels out while we were away put the curtain back up! lol Overall the room did not feel very clean. Our room was all the way in the back on the first floor next to a gate that was the back exit of the hotel. This gate had NO LOCK, and I constantly found it open in the middle of the night when returning to our room. This just didn't feel safe.

On a good note the staff was very friendly and helped with any questions we had about the area. Also the hotel is located within walking distance of just about all of the attractions. This made our excursions into the city easy.

I've definitely seen and stayed in worse, but for the money I would not return. If you're picky about cleanliness I would definitely tell you to look elsewhere!

Nice old place, near to the central square of Cusco, located in a very crouded street. Rooms are comfortable, clean, hot water, cable tv (almost everything in spanish), a nice simple breakfast included in the price, and very affordable. Everything is close: fast food, good restaurants, drugstores, barber shop, buses and taxis, and of course, like 4 blocks away from the main square (Plaza de Armas). If you decide to party, no problem on getting back pretty late (or too early).

Room Tip: No credit cards, cash only.

We stayed here one night before and two nights after visiting Machu Picchu. The room was dated and a bit musty but the bed was comfortable and the shower was warm. The staff was super friendly and we left a 70-litre travel backpack behind as they aren't allowed on PeruRail and the staff was more than happy to keep it for us. In fact, it was waiting in our room when we returned from Machu Picchu. They arranged taxis for us and made sure we had breakfast every morning!

We were part of a church mission from Ohio to perform dental treatment for 2 villages in the High Andes of Peru. After completion of the mission we stayed 2 nights in the Tambo Hotel so we could take the train to see Machu Pichu.

I’ve stayed at this hotel twice for several days each time. It is located about 3 blocks from the main plaza. On Calle Ayacucho. They offer free "breakfast" (coffee, juice ,Mate De Coca, toasted bread with butter and jam) You can ask for something else for extra $$. Breakfast is not great but it’s sufficient for me. If this is not to your liking you can always go out to eat.

The rooms are comfortable and warm if you get heater. The baths are clean and the service is good. Nothing Spectacular. Nice place to stay if you are on a budget. They will hold your bags for you if your flight leaves after you check out.
