We had two spells on this hostel. This first was actually really nice. Nice rooms, nice breakfast. Helpful owner.

We then went to Machu Picchu for the night and when we returned everything change.

The new room was dark and dingy. We were now charged for eggs at breakfast where before they were free. We received one bread roll rather than the previous two.

On checkout the owner tried to charge us for a bottle of water he claimed he bought.

But worst of all we asked the hostelier to book us tickets on the Cruz del Sur bus to Ica. We gave him three days notice and on the day we were leaving we had to pester him three times for the tickets and he finally handed over tickets for another bus company - which was awful. The hostelier told us the bus we wanted was cancelled but when we arrived at the station we asked at the Cruz desk and were told it ran with no problems.

But worst of all the bus tickets had the price printed on it 110s and he wanted us to pay 140s. When we pointed this out he immediately pulled the no-speakey-de-English routine.

Very disappointing

The staff are great, but the hostal itself is in dire need of some TLC. We booked a double with ensuite room, we were put in the part of the building facing onto a road which is very noisy- the rooms at the back are better. Place seems to have an issue with old plumbing - both rooms we were in stank as soon as shower or toilet was used, so would recommend not paying for an ensuite. Not the best value for money as can find cheaper and better in cuzco

Incama has the nicest staff as everyone has said. They pick you up from the airport at no cost, are willing to answer all questions and get you whatever you need. The rooms are cozy, but try to get in the taller building. A dog ran across my ceiling when it was out (it is family run). The rooftop view is wonderful and an excellent place for breakfast (very simple: bread with jam and butter, tea and coffee). The location is walking distance to everything, but you should be careful at night, especially if alone. Unfortunately there aren't a lot of restaurants too close, but again, definitely within walking distance. There is free internet (4 computers), TV lounge, water and snacks to buy and cheap laundry. Coca tea is always available to adjust to the high altitude.
