We stayed in Cusco for two nights when first arriving to Peru. After a long wait in Lima airport, we took an early morning flight to Cusco and Carlos had arranged for a car to meet us at the airport and take us to Second Home. We arrived before check-in and Carlos started us off with some coca tea and breakfast. We sat in the quaint courtyard and did some quick check-ins using the WiFi. We were also entertained by the resident puppy, Toby. Carlos pointed out some things on the map so we can settle some errands and we headed towards the plaza while our room was prepared. Second Home is located within a 10-15 minute walk to Plaza de Armas, hidden in one of the small cobblestone streets away from the commotion. The Church of San Blas is also nearby, with a few of the art galleries and souvenir shops surrounding the small plaza. Within this plaza is the restaurant Pachapapa recommended by Carlos, where we had one of the better meals during our trip.
Our room at Second Home was cozy, with a separate seating area where we could unload our full backpacks. The bathroom is open and airy, appointed in ceramic tile and with skylights. We were able to relax comfortably even after a long day of travel and walking around town. The nights were a little chilly, so the room came equipped with a space heater which kept us comfortable at night. Breakfast was made ever morning by Carlos himself, although we chose to sleep-in one of the days as we were quite comfortable in bed. Although there were others staying, the premises is small enough such that it always feels quiet and peaceful.
Overall, we had a pleasant stay at this personable accommodation, with the friendly owner and staff and playful puppy.

We arrived early in the morning and Carlos welcomed us with a cup of coca tea and a lovely breakfast of eggs and toast. He helped us plan our stay in Cusco, even arranging a driver to take us to the Sacred Valley. We thoroughly enjoyed our conversations with Carlos, the intimate and comfortable accommodations (we stayed in 2 different rooms during stays before and after our Inka trek) and the quiet location. Carlos was always available to problem solve, recommend a restaurant or museum, or to chat about his interesting life. We can't recommend Second Home Cusco enough!

We stayed at second Home Cusco for a few days before our Inka Trek and another day on our return from Machu Picchu. Whether providing very early breakfast (cooked eggs included) prior to embarking on the trek or local knowledge on trips or restaurants Carlos was always on hand with his friendly manner and hospitality in abundance whenever needed. The B&B is conveniently located in the old section of the town close walking distance to all the town highlights. If you are looking for somewhere to stay in Cusco make this your second home.

Carlos was a friendly, affable and helpful host. Breakfasts were outstanding. It is close to the San Blas neighborhood and a short walk to the center of Cusco. A terrific location if you don't mind an uphill hike back! Because of its small size, there are only a few guests, making Second Home a quiet and intimate place to stay. Our room (suite) was huge and comfortable.

I would definitely recommend Second Home Cusco. Carlos goes out of his way to make sure all needs are met. He cooks great breakfast and organized a trip to Machu PIcchu...even calling the guide to make sure we made it okay.

Room Tip: Skylight suite was great, but it is very bright so if you want to sleep in you might want to get a d...

We just stayed with Carlos for three nights, and it was the best part of our vacation. Cusco is beautiful, and Second Home is in a great location. Carlos is extremely helpful, and his hospitality is second to none. He always made us feel welcome, and gave great recommendations for food and outings (he arranged a great trip to Machu Picchu for us). If we return to Cusco, we will definitely stay with Carlos again.

Room Tip: If you want to sleep in, you might not want to choose the Skylight Suite as the sun rises early and...
